I see no long-term future for Pritchard if we are building him up as a no 10. His scoring record is poor, he has less assists then Neil who's playing further back, he doesn't support the striker and has the tendancy to go missing for large periods in games. 433 with Roberts and Clark playing off Stewart.
This for me too. I've said before I'm not a fan of these "versatile" players. Jack of all, master of none imo.
Neil signed Pritchard for Norwich didn't he? Suppose he could have changed his tactical approach since then but I'd be surprised if Pritchard doesn't have a role to play
We need width, majority of teams in this league can soak up and deal with stuff straight down the middle. Playing without width makes it easier, get it wide and look to get in behind them
Maybe he has a plan to actually get him playing to his peak. For me he's been nowhere near the standard we need him to be. For the role he's played you'd expect him to get over double figures in terms of goals and assist. I know he's probably created chances that other have missed, however you can say the same for most players. I would have Evans, Neil and Matete in the middle 3 allowing the front 3 to concentrate on winning us game. I'm sick of seeing Stewart drop back to do the works for the likes of Pritchard.
He had a spell pre Xmas where he was our best player and we missed him when he was injured, but he's injured too often and has too many quiet games. If Neil is playing a 4-3-3 then I can see him and Embleton getting marginalised.
He's done for. That subject is taboo and we're an extremely precious, sensitive bunch if anyone dare criticise us.
If he goes with 3 CMs (Evans, Winchester and Matete I assume) then I think that's a sensible move to get control of the ball and dictate the pace of the game to them. The worry would be Pritchard playing wide, I don't think he would protect Hume very well.
The fans are the only good constant about this club. 38k last week, sell out midweek, sell out today. Of course it gets people’s backs up, because it isn’t true.
Criticising the club and disrespectful entitlement are two different things. We clearly have amazing fans at games - everyone says it. We have some of the most loyal fans. We also have some very noisy negative bell ends on social media.
It’s the same up and down the country with keyboard warriors. But to say fans (even the keyboard warriors) are to blame because we lost 6-0 to Bolton, 5-1 to Rotherham, 2-1 to Doncaster etc etc is ludicrous.
Our best performances this season have been when we've played a back four. What hasn't helped is Johnson's constant tinkering in-game
“Sunderland fans who wonder why the club are under performing should take a long look at themselves” I would say those defeats are under performing.
