they are both brand new to their respective roles........whe youre ln a new job you normally get to do your **** up in private...thats without factoring in impetuous youth
Glad it's all over. Underwhelmed by the appointment in the wake of the whole Keane saga but ultimately Alex Neil fits the profile far more than Roy Keane. Am very grateful it wasn't Lennon or McCann Good luck Alex, let's see if you can last more than a year
I wish the new manage well and loads of luck ,because thats what we have been missing years now ..some fn luck... Many people attacking the club ,but it seems to me both Keane and the club were trying really hard to make a deal work and pushed long and hard to get it over the line. Couldn't get there and then took 2 days to finalise with option b .. lets move on.
It feels nice to not have a manager with a ‘streaky’ tag attached to them. I really liked Lee Johnson, but I could never fully relax with him in charge knowing our next collapse was just around the corner.
Comes across really well in that video and as I’ve said for years the minimum we expect here is for players to give their all. Keane would have demanded that but so will this bloke, who has much more experience as a manager. We need to remember we are still a league one team and this is a very good appointment. Doubt he would have taken a job at this level for many other clubs, if any. If he can sort the defence out we will definitely be in the playoffs, where he has very good form.
Aye I’m the same, really wanted Johnson to be a success here but there was always that nagging feeling. I think he will have a successful managerial career but still has a lot to learn.
I'm pleased because my dad wanted him, being a fellow Scotsman. It's reinvigorated him. All I want is for me and him to be on board.
I got used to Johnson's technical jargon and honestly I didn't mind it because there was substance behind it, but I think a straightforward approach is what's needed now. Get the defence drilled and build it from there.
Totally and he knew what he was on about in my opinion BUT that is being logical and not factoring in ****e refs and ****-housery. All things aren't equal otherwise we'd be promoted by now if that's not too arrogant. Gotta beat these teams twice in a game and that's just how it is with the random factor in this league. Hopefully we now get this and onwards and upwards. Clean slate, let's smash it!!! Bring it AN BOOM
Yeah he was too theoretical, for example the Portsmouth game which was played under 4 metres of water and yet we still tried to pass it out from the back. He needs to learn some pragmatism and he probably will if his ego will allow it. I reckon Neil is just what we need, he knows what he's doing he's got a lot of experience under his belt.
Comes across very well. Although I didn't mind Johnson and his tactical jargon what I do believe is not all players will work well with this. When you talk like that a % will get bored switch off, confused or see it as bullshit whatever. If you are straight talking but known your **** 99% of people take that on board and do well with it the rest are no hopers . I am hoping he will be the right fit
I’m hoping the players play with a lot more freedom now without ****e like POMO, bomb alley and the like to contend with I’m actually all for a modern approach, but for where we are, just a straight forward, committed, full on approach might be what’s needed
Tell you what. I was gutted that Keane fell through. When I looked at the alternatives I was massively underwhelmed. But once I started to look a bit more closely vat Alex Neil, I thought had there this bloke seems to fit us perfectly. I'm hesitantly optimistic now. This season may be gone, but next might be fun.
I'm not sure if it's a majority or minority that have given up on that statement. Gooch generally gives 100% and gets loads of abuse. The number of positions he's had play over the season, and sometimes in one match is enough to make anyone's performance/ confidence dip. Doyle has come under huge criticism over the last 4 months. For me he never hides, and is always confident to get his foot on the ball to take bring it out of defence. Then you have Embleton and Pritchard who coast or stroll through large parts of games and get nowhere near as much abuse. I was never convinced wth the Roy appointment. Hopefully Neil can bring similar standards and more tactical nous to the club.
It’ll be interesting to see how this goes, he prefers four at the back apparently which we’ve been **** at all season.
