I must admit I feel a bit reassured we are gonna have a straight talking Scot coaching the team. Might give them some impetus and reassurance.
I admit I wanted RK cos I feel we have a talented squad that need a rocket up their arse. But in hindsight I think we may have dodged a bullet. AN can maybe give them that rocket but in a more mature manner. Also with RK we would always be worried he could walk away at anytime.
Yeah, they said they were taking their time to make the right appointment. If it's right then why not commit? We are seeing in Man utd (not comparing us to them) how hard it is to get players to play for you when they aren't sure if you will be there next season. I think, and hope that it is the 18 month (or till end of next season) that is being talked about. Purely to send the right message to squad that has ultimately contributed massively to this mess. I really, really wanted it to be Keane but that was probably a hint of nostalgia and rose tinted glasses. I remember being annoyed when he walked away last time and shocked when it came out that he sometimes only spent 1 day with the team. For that reason I think it's a reasonable ask to relocate, otherwise you risk the same problems resurfacing. After all if dumb and dickhead are still around they are pally with short who will have filled them in about the bust up from his perspective. I need this to work, I love this club and will support them forever but the city needs to not be the joke of the North East so people can walk about with a smile on their faces and optimism about the future. A lot of that is driven by SAFC. Ha'way the lads, we go again
Like Gerrard's Villa or Rooney's Derby we'd have been Roy Keane's Sunderland ... ... at least now we'll be SAFC.
Why is Methven attending the games and manager interviews? We were told he had nothing to do with running the club
Ahh fu@k it. Haway Alex Neil. Hopefully he makes an instant impact and brings that squad back to where they were a few month back. Working hard, playing some nice stuff.
Very well put. I’ve got to marvel at our fans’ powers of recovery. Bad results, things awry, then we get* a new manager and it’s ‘come on, let’s go again’. * ok, it’s not official
Good post, for me the bold bit is where I'm at. Keane is box office, dynamite and puts us front and center with his presence which is why I wanted him in, he would have got a tune out of this squad asap. It was never going to be long term but he would have got us up imo (if he was brought in shaprish). IF the 'not relocating' thing has raised its head again then I'd have to say, (and it won't be popular) but fair enough. That's what Short wanted him to do last time and he said no.
Just my ****ing luck, the one time I'm related to the Sunderland Manager and he's the worst one in history
We lost 6-0 then 7 days later there are 39,000 in the stadium for a L1 game. We are all officially mental
