    Match preview;

I felt frustrated watching last night, but as others have commented on the Matchday thread, we got a point against a good side. This weekend we visit a Barnsley side who sit bottom of the table, and by some distance. They've only twice in their twenty-nine games so far, scoring 18 goals whilst conceding 45. Their top scorer is Carlton Morris, with 5 goals, and to put that in perspective, Gray, Chair, Willock, Austin and Dykes all have 5 goals or more so far this season. They have lost 8 of the previous 10 league games, the other 2 being draws, but did make it through in the FA cup, beating League Two Barrow 5-4. Their last league win was a 2-1 defeat of Derby on November 3rd 2021.

After our point against Boro, we now sit 4th. Solidly in the playoffs, and withing touching distance of 2nd. This season is, so far, surpassing my expectations and as is reflected by the general mood on the board (politics thread aside) there is a positive feeling surrounding QPR at the moment. In that context, I think Saturday will be a different type of test. This is exactly the sort of game that I remember going into time and time again in years gone by, expecting to win, and ending up with a point, or worse. I'm hoping that the players will go in with a killer instinct, and go all out from kick off.

    Team News:
QPR: Jordan Archer will miss out for the R’s, whilst Sam McCallum is edging closer to a return, with Seny Dieng back in the squad.

Barnsley: Jasper Moon, Matty Wolfe, Clarke Oduor, Victor Adeboyejo and Cauley Woodrow remain out.

    Pre-match talk:
Mark Warburton (QPR Manager): “They are in a tough position and fighting for their lives, we have to ensure that we prepare well, get our shape right, our set-pieces right, if you don’t prepare well and have the right attitude then you will get hurt.

“Tomorrow will be a very tough, intimidating fixture against a team who are scrapping for their lives."

Poya Asbaghi (Barnsley Manager): “They’re a good footballing team. So it’s a little different for us. Because we’ve been playing against a lot of direct sides recently.

“A different approach in front of us, but it should be a good football game and we are very confident that we can get a good result.”

Enjoy those who are making the journey, and as always...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

We need a big win as a response to last night. Don't think I've seen us so completely outplayed this season as we were 2nd half.

As mentioned, a win is a must.
A draw simply won’t cut it.
Time to flex a bit of muscle.

Business end of the season beginning.

I think I had us for second place in the pre season predictions, but that was strictly fantasy land. In reality any improvement on last season would have been a good return for me. Where we are now is simply outstanding, we have no right to expect this based on our squad, budget and recent history. These players, whatever their limitations, fight for each other and the fans. It is totally unreasonable to expect the recent run of results to continue, but….

we’ll find a way at Barnsley.

    You Rssss!

    Cheers Dave.

Get out of the starting blocks at warp speed and score an early goal. That will make Barnsley depressed and not want to continue. That would be my team talk.

I went there in the 82/83 promotion season. I think we won one nil thanks to a Clive Allen goal. I have a vague recollection of looking to the rear of the open stand and looking at 'mines' type structures out on the moors. Probably looks a lot different today.

Please ffs don't do like we usually do away to the bottom team who haven't won since Kennedy was assassinated, and feel sorry for them and give them the 3 points. Let's go there and start fast and with purpose and put them to the sword, we have to win this. Possibly switch Johansen for Hendrick or Amos and Wallace for McCallum if he's fit enough to start.

You should see their forum board.
They’re a few slices short of a loaf over there.
I can tell you, not the sharpest tools in the shed that lot, rif-raf by the bucketload!

Best to stay as far away as you possibly can from the Barnsley board
What a soul destroying place it is

Apparently the board members are the handsomest people you will ever meet

Yes, although ideally a big win to improve our GD, and confidence. But I'll certainly be happy with a win however it comes.

Barnsley murdered us at home and it’s grimmer than Katie Price’s minge up there so I’m going more in hope than expectation.

I thought Cole Kpekawa would make it. Oh well.

    Gallen played for them

Unintentionally so. I’m just really enjoying this season, and can find nothing to fault in this squad of players. Charlie can’t run but man can he shout.

Yep, I'd be happy if Hendrick started alongside Field and McCallum to start if fit. Wallace doesn't yet seem back to his old self and we always play better when he plays well.
I would advocate really going for it, with our usual 3-4-2-1 and try to get the first goal.

As others have said though, any kind of win will do.

Sadly I cannot go to this one... I wanted another First Class rail journey. :emoticon-0100-smile Hopefully get the 3 points and return. They are not a good side.
