Why are people getting in a tizzy over the fact it’ll only be til the end of the season? It protects the club and gives all parties the chance to see if it can work long term. The sole aim will be to get promotion. If it doesn’t work out, we can look elsewhere without having to pay him off.
He doesn't look like a Canada Goose type of fella so at least that's one thing a few can't have a go at him for.
I reckon in 30 years people will be saying “can you believe Sunderland only appointed Sir Alex Neil because Roy Keane turned them down?” “Yes - that Roy Keane, from the jungle”
I wanted Keane as a hand grenade and the hope we'd get out of L1, i never thought he'd stay too long. KLD might be more head than my heart and better for the club long term. I've no idea of anything except that I'll have a sore throat on Saturday night and a hangover on Sunday morning.
It could be the end of his career, taking this chance, and he'll know that even some Sunderland supporting Keano fanatics will want him to fail. He took Norwich to the Premier League ... ... I'd be happy if we beat Wimbledon on Saturday.
My beef with this contract is that it shows no real trust in the manager, it's just a hopeful punt. And the players will know this too. Nothing particular against Neil, good luck to him, but a three month deal, from a club who sack their managers with absurd regularity will do nothing to recommend the club to whoever they try to get next, which probably won't bee too long in the distance. There are amateur posuers running this club and we and the owner deserve better. I hope KLD goes and asks advice from someone and gets better people around him
Looking at his record when he arrives at clubs this could be a very good appointment. Automatics are a big ask now but hit the playoffs with momentum for a change.
Stunts like spending 2 weeks to get their second or third choice in whilst losing games. Stunts like talking about a longer. term project only to give someone 3 months. If you back the man, you back him.
I was nervous about Keane coming in tbh. I had visions of him falling out with everyone and him ****ing off at the first opportunity. out of Neil and McCann I’d take Neil everyday so this appointment is a good one bearing in mind Neil has managed in the championship. it’s not Keane but let’s get behind Neil and have a right ****ing go for the rest of the season. also whoever has been responsible for this “process” needs to have a ****ing word with themselves. It’s been nothing short of ****ing embarrassing.
