Its sport. You don't win anything for having a big crowd and there are lots of uncontrollable variables. That's the whole point.
Wouldn't be so sure. I know plenty of people who are now swaying towards staying away and certainly NOT renewing next season. Maybe it's all the emotion of the last couple of weeks but I can see mid-20s as the attendances for the next few weeks
You do realise that extra 8,000 people probably forked out £60 a piece to go and watch that s hite and you want them to clap the team off at half time.
I understand what you say,and you're right, but I think it's a little bit more than that. We were...at least I was....under the impression we had an intelligent, progressive and competent management who are busy assembling a best in class structure to take us forward, and I'm afraid the events of the last 10 days or so,coupled with comments from one or two fans whose judgement can be trusted, have gone a long way to destroying that confidence. That's not to say it can't be won back, but it's going to take prompt action and a deal of believable explanation.
Yep it’s sport but not just that. It’s our club and it runs a lot deeper than that. fans pour their hard earned wages into it.
No I don't expect them to clap them off ..my point is there is a noticeable change in the crowd once we get above circa 30k and there is a lot of kicking off in forums based on f all facts .. we lost all composure after the first goal for 15 mins and I was as p off as anybody.. but we have a very young team and I cannot see how getting on their backs will do anything but make it worse..
More than sport 100% From rtg yesterday: ‘Because we are born into this. Brought up with our lives revolving around this. People plan their weddings around this or miss them. We spend thousands of pounds on this and thousands of hours. People are buried in their colours and have their funerals revolve around this. Sunderland till we die is exactly that for a large majority of us. We live and breathe this and so do our kids thanks to us. To dismiss it with "why is anybody really bothered" means you don't get it to be honest.’
Safe to say any new Head Coach won't be in the dugout on Sat now. Not a chance as they'll be setting off Friday PM down to London
True but I reckon there's still a chance to get out of this ****ty league. We can only do that if everyone pulls together. Protests will only be a distraction imo
We'll not see the fruits of the structures we are putting in place for a few years yet. The old saying Rome wasn't built in a day comes to mind. It's been a difficult few weeks that is for sure.
They should have moved quicker to appoint someone, I agree. I think the whole Keane thing was a circus that the club should have steered clear of though, so there's some accountability there. Reading between the lines, it sounds like there wasn't universal agreement on him. They need to learn from that, obviously, but some people are judging them way too harshly.
As I've said elsewhere, for me it is not that the manager will not be Keane. It is the shambles surrounding the sacking and replacement. And still now, when the media is flooded with stories they say nothing, despite being very keen on talking when it's been easy. The real problem is that this business has shown that we are a very poorly led club. How we all laughed at that lot when they took ages to replace Bruce. They didn't know what they were doing either
Without being party to the selection process, I have no idea who will be the best manager for us at this moment. I wanted Keane but certainly won’t act like a spoiled brat because I don’t get my choice. My caveat to that is Speakman wants shafting for allowing the process to take too long, leaving us rudderless at such a vital part of the season. I will get right behind any manager appointed until their performance, or that of the team, makes me think otherwise.
The Mags don't own the right to protest Priti Patel has banned them, so they're the right thing to do
Just in from graft, havent had a chance to look on much today...Cant believe this is happening. Went to work early, Keane was imminent...then all off...wtf?.....any clarity?
