Just seen it, no wonder they didn't post it. I feel for him tbh should never have been in that position
I am of the opinion these last two weeks will have longer term consequences at the club. I cant believe when they sacked Johnson they anticipated this process they have been through. I think whichever way you look at it there have been some significant mistakes made. KLD will have to decide how much trust he has in his team in my opinion. I am speculating only, but I would like to think it is educated speculation. Dodds should never have been asked to lead the team, but he is Speakmans man from Brum. It speaks volumes to me that choice. Flannagan being sold makes no sense whatsoever. Trying to ship Gooch equally so. I can imagine no circumstance in which Speakman identified Keane. It seems either a intro from Jones or KLD wanting a fans choice, like with Defoe. If I were Speakman I would have pushed back hard. You are brought in to do a job and I wonder how much power he has had removed. I am not particularly convinced by his actions to date, but I have some sympathy for his position. I would be surprised if we have the same structure next season, personally. I think one or two may walk / be nudged. I hope it is not a reset, because watching young lads is great. But we need a balance of moneyball and pragmatism, and we may need a bit more experience to help KLD. All just my opinions. No inside knowledge, but I have been around football long enough to believe there will have been some very different opinions over the last couple of weeks between all in the club.
Those last two results especially has took the shine off Keane signing for me. It's like KS and KLD expected the team to pick up points regardless of who was in the dug out. Cant even get excited about the rest of the season as it stands.
Yep, quite likely that there have been disagreements. But Speakman's position has been badly weakened by his creation of a badly balanced squad. One centre forward, two/ three centre halves with a different two sold. Loads of wingers. They may be potential in all the players brought in, but as a team, I think most of us can see we needed at least one experienced midfielder who can sort stuff out on the pitch. We have Evans who I assume was meant to fill that role but he has been largely anonymous or, as he was last night, invisible. This idea of a " model" and a "philosophy" sounds good. But unless it is accompanied by pragmatism, it will get us nowhere. It's like playing a certain way. Sometimes another team will succeed in stopping you and you have to change tack. Fairly obvious to me that the DOF was not ready for a change, one of his main jobs you would have thought. It's a very bad mess and needs rapid and decisive attention. I hope they are capable of it.
Funny how the team reflects the back room setup and vice versa When things are going well and they are on the front foot they look/sound fantastic Soon as they come under a bit of pressure they start to wobble. I like what they are trying to do so like you say I hope its not a complete reset but Maybe you're right we need a bit of steel and experience behind the scenes as well as on the pitch Keane might bring that but both sides will have to give and take. Hard lesson but hopefully KLD can learn from this.
I think people are getting too hung up on the use of some of these terms. When they refer to the "model" they are trying to highlight that the way the club is set up now is different to the traditional British "model" of one all powerful manager, controlling everything associated with the first team.
To be fair to Evans , first half our midfield two looked quite solid and I had hope. Second half he might as well have been a blow up doll. I wonder if he’s not training to avoid injury and isn’t fit enough?
I agree but apparently Roy Keane met the players and staff Friday so, who's know what's when on during the last couple of days
