We've had four family in Jakarta hospitalised after a worrying wait due to pressure on the health service. All with underlying problems but none in ICU. They were all double jabbed. The covax program needs massive support particularly in Countries that haven't been able to get access to vaccines. The likelihood of a more virulent mutation increases with high transmission rates.

The fact you even need to ask this completely exonerates all my posts about vaccine mandates being immoral.

    Thanks.

Imagine where we would be with polio and smallpox without the vaccine requirement. Terrible diseases only eradicated with vaccine requirements (polio not yet gone but hopefully this decade).

Covid isn’t polio or smallpox, and the covid vaccine isn’t the same as the polio of smallpox vaccines.

    No offence. I literally don't give a f*ck.

I just want to know if I should look into rebooking some flights I've got next week.

You presumably won't be allowed on the plane without a negative test, so you might be cutting it a bit fine. A friend of mine recently caught Covid, shook off the symptoms really quickly, but kept testing positive for well over a week.

None taken. I think guidelines say if you test negative for two days you can leave isolation now

That's a different hurdle/kettle of fish - the government has decided that no vaccine requirements are needed to enter Britain, but other countries have their own requirements: These 'other requirements' will probably revolve around proving that you have been vaccinated, but they may also require proof of a negative test within 24 or 48 hours. I'd check with the airline/tour operator to confirm the precise requirements, just to avoid any unnecessary expenditure (unless you're happy to be placed in a hotel at your expense, for 10 days)

Yeah I was all set to meet the requirements you mention. And more. Think all I need to do is try and get a cancellation, then reschedule. The price in flights have actually got down by about 30-40% from when I booked anyway, so might end up saving some money.

Wot he said, you'll get plenty of advice from 'the bloke in the pub'. But its destination dependant and the regs are changing daily, this may help also the immigration website of the country. Good luck with it, I'd cancel and reschedule personally saves on the cost of travel and testing.

The mental gymnastics you have to hurdle to support forcing vaccines onto people that don’t want them, despite knowing vaccinated people can still spread the virus is really something to behold <laugh> .
Why can’t you accept people’s personal decisions?

This BMJ article has both sides of the argument which makes good descriptions of the vaccine passport applications and how they should be implemented. What is a fact is that they have saved lives and could have saved more. I think the pros for a well thought out use of passports outway the cons. What's for sure is the need to keep up with the regulations for international travel.

I do respect individuals' right to a personal decision, as I've said before those that refuse to use the passport vaccinated or not will suffer the consequences. No mental gymnastics are required to understand supporting the use of passports. Plenty of evidence to support Vaccinated people are less likely to spread the virus and have greater protection against serious illness and death. That you expect people to take your unsubstantiated coverall one liners as valid beggars belief. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/heal...kely-spread-covid-new-research-finds-n1280583 https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/31/the...are-less-likely-to-spread-it-study-finds.html

A friend (only person I have been in close contact with recently) has tested positive for Covid. I have developed same symptoms (cough, slight headache, sore throat) starting a few days after her, yet am testing negative. I suppose she could have had a cold as well as Covid and I caught the cold or I have Covid but not testing positive. Anyone have a clue?
Ps Am acting as if I have Covid and staying away from family.

Whatever it is, hope you feel better soon Fran. I suppose keep testing would be a good idea.
