We beat Preston and Derby. Out of form West Brom lose away to in form Sheffield United Middlesbrough lose away to QPR Forest lose or draw away at Blackburn. That leaves us 7 points off the playoffs this time next week. The other teams can do what they want. The Allams are gone by the way in case you missed it.
WBA have just sacked their manager. I'll accept that we have a game in hand on them so could well be 10 points off 6th. Boro won't lose to QPR. For a brief moment we may well close in on the Play Offs but the number of teams above us - most of which have games in hand - means we have to win probably 15 out of our 18 remaining which is just fanciful. No idea what the Allams have to do with it. I'm also not even convinced we beat both PNE and Derby (both 1 loss in 8) who are both showing excellent form.
I think we are safe which we would have all taken at the start of the season or even a month ago. So there’s no pressure now which will allow us to play with the shackles off to a point. Acun’s dream is fantastic but it’s not a reality, We have had a decent transfer window which will help us build some momentum but I don’t think we signed enough quality/proven players to take us into the playoffs and beyond. Hopefully we can finish 10th(ish), some permanent signings in the summer, greaves etc get another year experience and we can aim for playoffs next season.
Don't post these all the time but today's episode was a cracker (if I do say so myself) and there was a decent amount of discussion on this topic, so thought I'd post it up:
There isn't much difference in the mid table teams, I think we can realistically aim for the top 10 but just short of the play offs this year, great to be ascendant again though.
I am quite happy for this thread to be closed down, it only had a narrow shelf life anyway. Personally, as long as we done open a thread titled Relegation Permutations, I am fine.
