Yeah, I agree with most of that. The replacement should have been brought in quicker. Can't help but think that chasing Keane has led to that situation though.
No one knows anything about any negotiations. The assumption that Keane is somehow holding a gun to the club's head is pure speculation. It was not Keane who said there would be second interviews - an utterly ludicrous idea anyway if the club were prepared - or him who bangs on about process and models. I can imagine any interview with Speakman being a long winded affair where he might take ten minutes to say good morning, ( but don't hold him to it though). No one knows, and if it happens to be that Keane wants the job but only if he is the manager then that seems fair enough to me. Don't ask him if you just want a bloke to ape your meanigless jargon . There is clearly a role for a DOF kind of individual at a club. But unless you are an experienced hand at it , the role should be limited. This bloke, from running the youth teams at a smaller club looks to have too much influence. And he's not looking good at using it.
E The club has a voice, which is heard often enough in the form of the garrulous Speakman. They could have used it anytime they wanted, and they didn't.
No, no one knows anything about the negotiations. So, yes, the idea that Keane is holding the club to ransom is speculation, although its based on Keane's own statement that "the contract has to be right". Much of your argument appears to be based on your impression of Speakman. But that's also just specualtion based on the fact that he doesn't speak in the usual clichés.
I agree. My point was when you look back, we're small time instead of going for people like you say that have been there a done it. Tbf he won leauge one with a much better squad then ours with a load of Championship players. Norwich do it all the time, Rotherham have managed to keep pretty much last seasons Championship squad. Its a different kettle of fish up here.
I’ve dealt with lots of bullshit managers and they all speak like that when they have nothing of substance to them.
Deodoran2 over road saying Speakman digging in heels held up things. Genuine poster, definitely gets info
If the club isn’t going to say anything then that’s their fault for causing the vacuum in the first place.
I'm sure it will all work out in the end. It'll. not be long before the new manager is appointed, followed by "It's a massive club" "back where it belongs" "hard work" "honour to be here" "jumped at the chance" sound bites start. Jokes aside, we'll be OK. FTM
One more thing, it's funny how when one reporter Tweets it isn't as close as people think, they're automatically dick heads and full of ****...... turns out....
I remember when Quinn was absolutely managing badly, floundering and things were as bad, if not worse than now ... ... no idea what would've happened to us if Keane hadn't been persuaded to come.
I can't help but wonder whether the current impasse with appointing a new manager has in fact been created by Keane throwing his hat in the ring in a way that took the hierarchy by surprise.
I love Keane but I've said before I'm not sure he's the right option long term however I honestly believe he's the only option that can salvage anything from this season. Speakmen talks his **** about data this and data that for coaches aswell as players, so how come if this data is so good at picking out who is going to be the next best coach, everyone they've interviewed is available right now. Surely it would have picked someone up that we could try to sign from another club. But no apparently the data shows the best coaches are on the ****ing dole
