I'm stepping away from these forums. It's getting very toxic. Timing of sacking and results are shocking, however, I feel like a behind the scenes narrative is being created by people on the internet and I don't like it. Speak again once we have a new gaffa
That's the way I see it too. Can't deny that Defoe and Keane create a buzz but we'd have been fine if they'd never been linked.
We are playing like a dead team walking. Is our form anything other than relegation form? We can class it as a blip or a temporary unlucky period or whatever you would like but the facts speak for themselves, we are awful to watch and we turn to putrid **** once we go behind/concede. If we don't make the right appointment expect more of the same because we look absolutely hopeless and have done for weeks. My point is there will always be folk who would prefer the status quo because there's always a chance to turn things around without being too drastic sacking people or making any changes. Those people often take the moral high ground over those knee jerkers calling for everyone to be sacked. There is a balanced position however and sacking a manager without having a replacement lined up was always doomed to fail. Hence the current fallout among the majority of fans (going off what is being said here and applying common sense to what's happening and the likely reaction from folk) When we were in the premier League we had a habit of sacking the manager around Christmas time, bringing a new face in and saving our season. The year we didn't do that? Mmm let me think. Inaction has resulted in our ultimate position. And inaction is what will mess up the rest of this season. The club has messed this up massively and each minute that passes without a new manager messes it up further. We had a formula, started each season with a new slate and ended up reapplying that formula to smooth out the rest of the season. Then we decided to change the formula. We haven't been the same since and each time we repeat the new formula we expect a different result. Our position in the league these days is irrelevant we start well and end poor. Our form warrants change but we have only completed half the job this time and that's the reason for the reaction. Be as disparaging towards my point as you want, hope it makes you feel good on your high horse looking down on those of us who are passionate and want us to break free of this awful cycle where we see the same mistakes being made and praying for the result to be different. I feel we all hoped that with KLD, the backroom appointments, the change in recruitment tactics and everything else he has tried to bring, that the fortunes of the club had finally changed but this is far from the truth. We are in the same familiar position for some unknown reason but even if we win each of our remaining games we are still unlikely to be in the top 2 at the end of the season. From a position of strength we have conspired with ourselves to shoot ourselves in both feet and currently look like we have run out of ideas.
You talk about an awful cycle, but that was what we were in in the Premier League. The constant hiring and firing was a ridiculous state of affairs. Bringing in different managers, with different approaches. The club had no direction at all. After Short pulled the plug, we had the Donald debacle. I don't blame him for trying it on, if he'd managed to achieve what he wanted he would have done well. Now, we've finally got an owner who wants to do the right thing by the club. We've reached the first major test of his ownership, by definition we are not in any kind of cycle. Of course mistakes have been made under his watch, he's learning, but the reaction is completely over the top. Giving someone time to get things right isn't lacking passion, its keeping things in perspective.
I think we're done unless get rid of the two chancers. Expect that's why Keane not done. Losing any hope now like.
Fair enough. It came across as if you were using bingo and singing war songs as something all aged men do; your comment could actually be taken as your definition of old people in general, otherwise why use those words. I understand now that that wasn’t your meaning.
