Beyond belief at this stage of a season, they sack a manager with absolutely no plan on who is coming in next. It's as if they are happy to hover around the playoffs and ultimately stay in this league. I really don't understand the decision making at Sunderland. Where is the plan, the ambition. They don't deserve these fans
There is none, clearly. In for a shock next season when many fans give up. What’s the point? Pathetic football club.
I’ve never been so close to not wanting to go back we need a big lift and someone in today. It’s absolutely disgraceful how this team is being run at the minute.
Agree. KLD and speakman have had lots of praise but the actions of the last 10 days have evaporated all of that. Rightly so, incompetence on a gross level. It's basically destroyed the season. Thats sackable TBH. They will sense the mode after asking Oscar to monitor the socials closely. Today has to be the day where an apology is made but crucially, new beginnings and looking forward is the theme. They are in real danger of losing this fan base for good. It sounds dramatic but I don't think there has been a bigger 24 hours in the club's history for years.
Its gone from exciting (initially) to now where's its unprofessional and embarrassing ....Why does Sunderland shoot themselves in the foot at every given opportunity
We need an appointment and an explanation for the delay during the course of today. Nothing else will do,we can't go into another match without a change up. And,it had better be good, all the optimism of the last year or so since new management came in is in danger of vanishing completely.
great post personally never felt lower supporting the lads as I do now and I’ve been going since I was 6, so 40 years worth. club has had my backing all that time, but I need something to pin my hopes on and atm they are giving nothing back, not a single thing.
Last time it was near the start of the season. We were bottom of the league. He was in the stands for a game before he took over and we win against WBA I think. We then went on to win the league on the last day of the season!
Speakmann was quick to lap up the credit and put out a statement when he thought he was doing the right thing by not cancelling the covid games. I wonder if he is prepared to apologise as quickly for the dross he’s dragged us through these past few days. Incompetence beyond belief.
Although I think you’re right and they have totally ****ed a load of stuff up - the window, the sacking, the timing, the caretaker - I think this level of disaster deserves a bollocking at least maybe a sacking somewhere is deserved because it’s a business with high cost and fine lines and it’s ruined the plan for this year at least - however right now I think we need the manager in and to get things stable and the blood of Speakman will exacerbate the chaos and we don’t need it right now. What we don’t need is a 6month manager who the players can jettison if they don’t like the message and more instability in May.
It maybe due to the age of social media, but I don’t ever remember there being this much anger against the club. Not during Mcmenemy, Terry butcher, record low points season, Moyes, Grayson and the 2 chancers. This is a new low and I’m not convinced we won’t go lower. A sad day for SAFC and what’s more if the Mags stay in the premier league next season there is a real risk of losing a generation of supporters to them.
What on earth has gone on behind closed doors though? Things were looking up earlier in the season but the last two weeks have been a piss take. This appointment was a big test for KLD and so far he’s failed.
On the agenda for KLD today should be.. Sack Speakman. Appoint Keane with total control and a whole new backroom staff. Sign the best available free agents. Apologise to fans. Buy up all remaining shares from Donald and Methven.
It's easier now to vent your anger. Back in the day you showed your anger during or after a match. You gave the players/management what you thought was right at the time, along with protests outside the main stand at Roker when things weren't going well. The red card display was one of these. Keyboard warriors take over now and a lot don't go to the games or even support us. Last night has totally deflated me and I just cannot see where we go from here. Even appointing Keane would struggle to pick me up off the floor at the moment.
This is the key question....something has gone on,or has been brewing and finally come to a head. The last 10 days or so have been a disaster, and there must be a reason.
