Disagree total with this. Why is Roy Keane suddenly the greatest league 1 manager in the world? There will be other candidates undoubtedly. I won’t mind him coming in, but I’m a lot more apprehensive than a lot of people. That said, he appoints Warnock I’ll find him and drag him out of the club myself!
I want Keane but if they’re blown away by another candidate(and he’s not likely to be one of the usual on the merry go round) we’ve got to trust them.
Delay is strange. I said after Friday that I heard that agreements had been made and Keane would be the man. Still think he will be. With respect to KS on Saturday. He completely misread the room and wanted to come across calm and in control of the process. Got it totally wrong. I think he was playing for time. I don't believe we will be re interviewing a string of managers either. That only happens if someone has not kept their side of the real and Keane is out. I don't see.
2nd interviews don't mean with Keane. I read it that we are in negotiations with Keane, (delay could be negotiating staff contracts with other clubs), and we continue to interview others as a backup
I agree with this, Keane himself said contracts have to be right. I think/hope if there is a 2nd meeting today its just to sign contracts with the requests Keane made now agreed
they seem overly concerned about process, almost desperate to prove that despite their age and experience (which has been questioned) that they are in control …..satisfying external pressures whilst taking their eye of the internal things that matter. they’ve done a lot of good work but are in real danger of unraveling it all inside a 14 day period
That Craig Hope tweet will be true. I reckon we are still negotiating with Keane and it’s more or less done, but the club are being sensible in keeping some plan B in their back pocket. If keane fell through and we had no plan B it would be very poor. we just need to make sure he doesn’t fall thru and that having a plan b doesn’t slow down plan a
exactly. If you haven’t got your Plan A secured it’s negligent to not have a Plan B - and Speakman would be getting dogs abuse if that happened. It’s sensible we have people lined up as Plan B. But only if Plan B doesn’t slow down Plan A
Yeah, same. I'm also the same with Defoe. The guy is 39 and has barely played for 18 months but some of our supporters are going on like he's in his prime. There's surely better options than Keane. People going back to a club for the second time rarely works out.
Agreed. Think people are getting their knickers in a twist at the suggestion of alternative candidates
I don't think it is the process. They maybe saying all of that but I think it's something else that has been holding it up. Put it this way of Keane isn't announced in next 24-48 hours I would be bloody well surprised.
my reading is that it’s 99% Keane but until it’s done it’s not done. And therefore the club are being sensible continuing discussions with others. It wont be discussions with others that are slowing keane down
Is it possible certain shareholders/ownership group aren't willing to stump up their fair share of the package to get Keane? Not my thought initially but has been mooted elsewhere.
I just think Saturday killed everyone's enthusiasm off tbh. If we'd not lost and had Speakmans interview. People would be a lot more confident.
