lets face it no one knows anything, the board have got this very wrong The “process” is poor and to have no one lined up is beyond poor Dont get me started on the centre back issues! also very very poor
it can be poor in the short term as long as it has longer term benefits but we really can't be in this league next season FFS
Yes, I don’t think its a case of wanting cheaper replacements. I think its a case of maximising what we get for each of those players. The schpiel about “being fair” to players like Flanagan is nonsense. We are clearly not prioritising his comfort around his long term security above promotion. Flanagan was sold because either he has fallen out with people or because Shrewsbury offered a fee that we didn’t want to turn down. Because it can’t have been that high a fee… my gut tells me that Flanagan was sold due to a falling out post Bolton game. Which may have had something to do with Craig Hope’s “story” about some of our senior players having a heated debate with Speakman about Johnson’s sacking.
Yeh I don’t think its fair to blame everything on that - but the whole Defoe furore when we should have been focussing on winning games and building the long term for the club was a needless distraction. Should have put it to bed one way or another earlier in the window.
Question. If There's a process to follow when interviewing and appointing a manager, how come West Brom just phoned Bruce and offered him the job? That's what was said during the press conference by the chief executive.
Has to be really. We can't continue the rest of the season with the current squad of defenders we have.
With every minute that passes without us announcing Keane (or any other manager), I'm getting more and more pissed off.
Pretty sure the only “rule” is that a BAME candidate needs to be offered an interview. That interview doesn’t need to be face to face - could be Zoom / phone etc. And as I’ve posted a few times in this thread - what constitutes an “interview” is up to interpretation. If we are following a more rigorous process then thats a process we are putting in place to do correct due diligence. Normally I’d applaud that. But there is a mis-step here in terms of the lack of urgency. You can’t sack your manager and say its because we urgently need promotion, and then take your time choosing his replacement. By the time somebody is appointed (assuming its this week), they will have missed out on an 8th of the remaining games they’d have had.
That's the trouble with this guy. He might be doing sterling work which we don't see, but he should steer clear of the press. His remarks can be so laden with corporate jargon as to be rendered barely comprehensible . To English speakers anyway!
I would like to know who West Brom’s BAME’s candidate was, must of just rang him/her/it up and when they answered put the phone down again.
