It’s the Speakman interview pre-match yesterday that’s concerning me. He didn’t need to do it and no one was expecting it, especially after the podcast he had done a couple of days earlier. I therefore can’t understand what he was trying to achieve. If he was doing his job properly he should have had a shortlist of 3 or 4 candidates with all supporting data and info before sacking Johnson. This is what he suggested was the case on the podcast. It therefore should have been possible to appoint someone by Saturday or Monday at the latest. If he genuinely was being transparent in the interview yesterday and we are shortlisting then he’s made a major mess up of this whole situation. If not, and we are close to announcing Keane, then I don’t see any benefit or reason for the interview.
I'd love to know what the interview contains, I've had a few job interviews and you get the usual bollox "where do you see yourself in 20 years" etc what do they talk about?
I bet they are mostly boring as **** tbh. Philosophies, data and analysis etc. Saying that, I can't ever imagine a Roy Keane interview being boring
I'd end up way off topic if it was me interviewing them... Neil Lennon.... So Neil, that time you got pissed in the airport; what the **** was that all about? Neil Warnock....So Neil, where did you get your facelift done? Your forehead is tighter than a gnats chuff.... Grant McCann....Hi Grant; bye Grant..
Whatever might or might not be happening here, I would be amazed if Roy Keane consented to a "second interview". What can they possibly find out that they did not already know or could have already asked him? He is not a kid looking for his first job. And if we are getting so wrapped up in unnecessary "process" we could end up with anyone who can repeat a sufficient amount of corporate baloney.
This is the reason I left a company in 1990 we were bought out and the new owners spoke this s hit all the time, they bought us because we were one of the leading companies in the country in our field. I left after 6 months of listening to this s hit. another 12 months and they were bankrupt, f ucking tossers.
I DO wonder, after all the online furore that Keane's comments/demeanour on ITV caused that Speakmann felt the need to take back a bit of control of the process by posting that interview. Dangerous ****ing game if so
Agree, we’ve 16 games left plus play offs (hopefully at worst). Motivating managers an get a lift from players and go on decent runs.
Booked mine after Bolton. Got a cancellable Premier Inn room. Mates of mine booked there’s in about October.
Shocking isn't it, that ends up like this. Season kicks off in August and hotels booked for the playoffs in October. It's mental supporting this club.
Exactly. Speakman would have been the one who planned that interview before the match, no one else so it was to serve his agenda. My initial interpretation was Speakman was trying to play a little power game. Almost as if he was trying to send a message to Keane to say we had options. That suggest Keane is driving a hard bargain (could be contract length, transfer budget in summer, back room staff, salary or anything). I could be reading it completely wrong but couldn’t think of any other reason. It he genuinely thought it would reduce the speculation after the comments on ITV with Keane he’s ridiculously naive.
I agree. He said the other night the club has to want you. To me that says he isnt prepared to be put through any nonsense. More interesting was the comment about the contract. Maybe he wants some assurances around backroom staff in there. Wouldnt be the first. In my opinion it is done and will be announced soon. Otherwise Keane would have said more in his tv appearances. ONeil interview also tells a story. He will be in dugout Tuesday iny opinion.
I think it is a bigger minority than you might think. I have been over emotional on this thread but I dont think he is right for us. I have simply decided to belt up and get behind him and the players. I have a dislike of him and his personality, but maybe it is about me more than him. Dont want to fall into the trap of looking for every mistake he might make. I hope he comes in and proves an inspirational presence that creates a momentum.
