It was given so it doesn't matter what I think. Do you have an opinion on the one in the first half when Eaves beat their centre half to a long ball and was given off. I thought he looked well onside from where I sit in W11. I know angles etc but he really did look to start his run from well behind the defender.
It was the same players that won last week to register Arveladze's successful baptism... FWIW,we deserved very little for today's toil.I'm sure we'd have all took a point with our late peppering of their goal but It would've been undeserved?.The passing was pretty poor, our attempts at running into space were few and far between and much credit to P.N.E for doing their homework. We are a work in progress and there's a long way to go ...UTT!!
Heard that call when I got home. WTF is a call like that allowed on air ? That's where RH let's itself down.
RH was mostly about Scunny yesterday after the match. Did have the misfortune to switch on as the numpty was on. Wish I had scunny as a match to match accumulator. 7 in a row they have lost now. Re City yesterday was a good wake up call after the new owner razzmatazz. Preston when they found their game plan looked a good championship side. Eaves saved header was the turning point. Can’t believe the goalie stop it.
I don't usually because of ****e like that, but I had to be home unusually early yesterday. I'd forgotten how frustrating it was having to listen to the Scunthorpe and Grimsby managers droning on before we get a mention, then we finally get a few minutes they read out an obvious wind up message like that one. Up your game 'Umberside !
Though we made a decent start but became second best as the game wore on. Agree about Preston keepers save from Eaves but to be honest too many had an off day and that’s something Shota probably needs time and money to address.
Think we got done the way we did Swansea . We played three banks all moved up and back together. We didn’t do that enough yesterday , saw Shota trying to drag the lines out quite a bit yesterday. We need more midfield mobility and ball playing , Smallwood can only sit deep and the Doch has the engine but little or no guile - harsh but true I think .
The club is still coming to terms with Change and probably will do all season now. It is what it is with our squad and any change to personal and tactics won’t be perfected overnight. When we get it right we give anyone a game but teams like those in the upper top half of this league took time to build and probably changed manager more than once to achieve it. Patience and belief is the key.
We have to remember the age of our lads as well. They will definitely improve given time. Think we have an interesting future coming up next few seasons given patience and some transfer elbow. Don’t sell our best and get some experienced talent in. Really want to see what the Iranian lad can do.
Similar thoughts. Shota now has enough talent at his disposal to keep us up which has to be our first priority. Keeping KLP and bringing in the strikers many screamed for under McCann sent the right kind of message out for me.
I’d be surprised to see Smallwood start next game, you could see Shota and even other players telling him to get his act together. Slater offers much more mobility and guile in that role.
The attendances will grow slowly over time. I suspect most have just got in the habit of not going or simply doing other stuff, I certainly have hence my first game being Barnsley.
Smallwood has benefited every time he’s been dropped this season. Always comes back refreshed and better, Slater might not let him get back in the side though, had huddlestone stayed fit he’d have probably not let him back in either
Strange no one’s mentioned how poor McLoughlin was? Pass right across his box to them skinned constantly Bernard poor too Only greaves who was outstanding and easily motm Held the back line together
