Good Morning. It's Friday 4th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Aaronson remains No 1 target According to Phil Hay, Leeds will continue to pursue Brenden Aarsonson in the Summer. Penning in his regular slot in this morning's 'Athletic', Hay explains that a lot of thought and analysis has gone into the decision-making and all points to the USA International being a perfect fit for Bielsa's side. He also points out that Mateuz Klich should be most concerned about Aaronson's arrival as Leeds look to bridge between the midfield four and No 10 (not that Leeds really have a No 10). "With every target Leeds analyse, attention is paid to how closely a player matches up with the club’s style of play. Leeds have had very pronounced tactics under Marcelo Bielsa and even though the Argentinian’s contract ends this summer, when he will turn 67, with no indication yet of what he or the club intend to do next, those tactics have filtered down from the first team into several younger age groups in the academy If and when Bielsa departs, Leeds want to avoid a dramatic shift in philosophy." "If Aaronson fits today, he should fit a later date too — and be suitable for whoever is given the job of following in Bielsa’s footsteps. Victor Orta, the director of football, has approached negotiations with other signings in the past, with Robin Koch, for example, by using video footage to outline how they will drop into the line-up: what their role will be, what responsibilities that will entail and how their performances for their existing club compare or contrast with Bielsa’s way. Leeds had the Aaronson footage ready to go, in the event that Salzburg allowed a transfer to proceed." "In the American, they identified clear shades of Mateusz Klich and it could be argued that Klich’s position, the bridge between the midfield four and No 10, is where they are most in need of additional numbers and quality." Salzburg’s football is possession-based but they are renowned for a strict and bullish press without the ball, chasing recoveries in high areas as Leeds try to do under Bielsa. It is physically demanding and the requirements are reflected in Aaronson’s domestic performances. please log in to view this image Is the Injury crisis finally over? Junior Firpo, Crysencio Summerville and Adam Forshaw are all expected to be fit to start against Aston Villa next weekend at the injury crisis at Thorp Arch looks to finally weaken its grip on the squad. There's good news too for Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, Charlie Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton who have all resumed training, and are expected game time for the first team this month. Leeds are likely to ease Patrick Bamford back gradually due to persistent injuries which have restricted the ER marksman to just six appearances this season. Leeds only long term injury concern is Sam Greenwood who has a knee injury. please log in to view this image We know what you did last season With wholesale changes expected in the Summer, a number of players are likely to be shown the door as new additions join the club. Let's take a look at the squad over the last two seasons and compare the consistency of the players and how their form has improved or dipped since joining the Premiership. What conclusions have you drawn from the data
Fair play to you Ell, you put a lot of effort into getting things going everyday - good read that. Morning all
“What conclusions have you drawn from the data” that people who slag off Liam cooper don’t know their arse from their tit or that statistics are meaningless
I used data from whoscored, as it is used by most bookies as a guide to settling controvertial football bets
My own view is that Cooper will still be here next season and still skipper, but maybe on the bench more. Cooper is a great sub to have. Klich will go home to Poland, so we need a replacement there (1) Roberts must be sold (2) Dallas will still be here and will gradually slide onto the bench like Cooper Forshaw will still be here as he has had a 2 year holiday so should be on top form allowing time for Bate to step up. Gelhatdt must be used as sub for Bamford and would have been better against Newcastle, so hope Bielsa learnt from that abortion. I see 2 new top midfielders coming in to replace Klich and Roberts
The sooner Roberts is shipped out the better and the sooner Radz sell up to get real investment in the better but no I dont want Mason Greenwood infact it would surprise me if he plays again in England
I use whoscored regularly Matt - I was referencing stats being useless as a get out of jail free card for cooper haters! Personally I think stats are useful as long as you look at them in context. The player rating algorithms are useless unless you’re making direct positional comparisons and even then it depends on the whole team’s style, ability and an individuals role. It’s easier to get good pass stats at man city when your team give you loads of options to pass to. A side who regularly pass across the back 4 will have better pass stats than long ball merchants and so on. Coaches will pick their useful stats for particular positions. Bit like aaronson identified as a good fit - most important will be yards run, key passes, ball retention, maybe interceptions and blocks from his pressing You have to know what you’re looking at and what might be skewing the results. Stating the bleedin’ obvious I know! Lies damn lies etc.
Got to be a wind up, surely https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www..../Derby-county-wayne-rooney-statue-6601095.amp
well deserved..........what more can you expect from this bunch of clowns , should look good along side ol' big head's.....well maybe shrek's will be bigger!
Afternoon all If Aaronson is our number one target in the summer then Bielsa must be signing a new contract?
Get ready for more injuries. Bielsa has 3 (yes 3) murderball sessions planned for next week. Jack Harrison has said it will be interesting. Expect Villa to run all over what fit players we have left.
I don't think we have room for cooper next season. Because if he stays hjelde or cresswell may want to be loaned out. If bielsa stays then i want all our best young players to stay. They will get far fitter and learn more than going to fecking cardiff or forest.
When Cresswell played this season, I thought he did a great job. His communication skills were fantastic too.
I think Cooper stays because dressing room love him and hes a conduit between the coach and players. Hjelde is experienced as a LB in the SPL and before that was DM/AM before his Norwegian pro team asked him to play CB. No idea where Bielsa sees him but he will be at the club. Cresswell is a born leader and next club captain and along with Koch, Llorente and Struijk we have many riches at CB. Lewis Bate finishes this season with more minutes in the middle expect him to well ahead of Shaks who isnt goo enough
