I liked the sound of Rob Edwards, Kisnorbo and there were couple that I mentioned the other day that haven't been linked, like Enzo Maresca- people with links to the City Group and that way of playing really. Most of them maybe not what we need right now.
As others have said, if its not Keane now the damage could be immense on whoever it is. Lee Johnson was an underwhelming appointment but I think he was doubly disappointing because he wasn't Gus Poyet - and a whole load of our fans had expected / hoped it would be. Even if we passed on Keane now and made a good long term appointment, people would resent that person for not being Keane. So rightly or wrongly we are all in now. Like I've said he wasn't my first choice, and still wouldn't be all things considered. But I can 100% see the benefit and am dead excited by it. If you can't be excited about Roy Keane and Jermain Defoe at your club in League One, when can you?
Spot on. It's like an "all or bust" situation and feel good factor. Feels like all the planets have aligned for this. If it fails, hey ho, but then it could be massive. Sometimes you've got to go with your heart as well as your head and feel alive. I'd rather Keane come in and fail than another fairly unknown fail, at least we'll ride the rollercoaster
I'm probably in the same boat as a lot of our fans in that I don't have a scooby who should be our next manager. I know Roy Keane doesn’t look as though he fits in with our current model, but he is hugely charismatic and is a walking challenge to any footballer. I don't think Lee Johnson, for all his technical knowledge and use of garb, could provide the inspiration to play and fear of facing him if you hadn't given your all on the pitch. If anything is to give our players a boost it could just be the mere presence of someone like Keane. I think our club model left out the need for inspiration and motivation, I doubt any of us would say Lee Johnson was able to perform these two tasks. So if Keane is willing then I would say let's adjust our model and give him a go. He might enjoy looking at all of our data and learn from this approach, but if not then at least we know he dragged us up to promotion without it.
[/QUOTE] Also it's not just Roy Keene and Jermain Defoe at a league one club, it's Roy Keene and Jermain Defoe at a big and ambitious league one club.
If Keane does join, you can guarantee Onien will start every single match and be Captain. Onien will be Keanes dream player for work ethic, attitude, commitment and determination.

That's a good point, particularly in the case of less experienced or lower profile managers. Keane appears to be the overwhelming fans choice, but we have to respect and back anyone else who may be appointed and give them a fair crack of the whip. For some that won't be easy.
This may send a few shudders but can we see a scenario where Paul McShane is his assistant? Has been coaching United U23s. And there's obviously plenty of links in there.
One or more of them could do well. I had high hopes for Jack Ross and gained a lot for Lee Johnson but it never quite hit the mark unfortunately. Maybe they should of been given more time, who knows. I just think Roy could be the catalyst. Whether or not he's the best coach to choose from he's surely the best magnet for highlighting the club, stirring passion and hopefully building momentum like last time. Fingers crossed, One thing is sure as eggs is eggs. It won't be dull
I cannot disagree, but it does show up a lack of enthusiasm and commitment in the rest of the squad and the mere presence of Roy Keane in the dressing room and at the side of the pitch might provide a little impetus for those who think their technical ability means they don't have to go all out on the pitch.
No, it won't be dull! Maybe it is what we need. Its definitely captured a lot of people's imaginations and generated a lot of excitement which can't be a bad thing.
I'm massively behind Keane and will be disappointed if it's not him. But I'll be behind anyone that comes in. Well most. John Terry and the ex mag Scouse twát can fook off. Oh aye, Barton, wánker. Never be him in a million years though, he's shìt.
