*I start a new job next Monday, nearly 2 years since being furloughed then made redundant. No more Holly for me.*

You implied that my opinion on the subject wasn't valid because I didn't know all of the circumstances. So if that's the case, your opinion on it can't be valid. I didn't misquote you at all. I referred directly to statements made in the video and the link that you posted. You're doing that thing again where you become disingenuous and then try to duck out of the argument. I'm quite happy to accept that we don't agree on the subject.

I’m increasingly sceptical about the whole thing just because it seems like muddled thinking. Smacks of the owner making a pick based on fame and sentimentality. Don’t get me wrong, the promotion season under Keane is my favourite season in my nigh on 30 years of attending matches but nothing about this is coherent. I think lots of the comments around his assistant being important are revealing. We’re on the verge of appointing a 50 year old not some newly retired player who need an older head to show them the ropes. His appointment would need to be seen in the same light as a five month punt and abandonment of the bigger plan, just like Warnock would be.

So you just bend to whoever even if you know it’s wrong just to keep your job, something I’ve never done in my entire life and tell my kids exactly the same.

Also people keep mentioning that Keane walks away when the going gets tough, last time he was here he didn't have a choice, Quinn had already told him the writing was on the wall after he told Short to **** off when he questioned him moving up here.
So he either had to jump or be pushed

You can't call someone out when you weren't there, don't know the facts and assume you know how you would handle it FFS.
Your opinion is "you know", my opinion is "you don't".
    Which you don't ;)

He left, end of. His choice. I respect HIS choice. Whether he faked injury or not. Which I seriously doubt, but again I don't know all the details .

As for being disingenuous and ducking out.
Have a "fùck off your boring me mate" .

Thats why am out ;) <laugh>

    Have a nice day :emoticon-0148-yes:

I’d love Keane back - must be worth a try. We have had a succession of drab appointments over recent years, LJ slightly less but at least Keane ought to have the respect of the players given what he’s done in football.

We all know the caricature that is visible in the media but I’m sure he is a much more complex character in real life - I’ve never met him and don’t suppose many/any on here have.

I would guess a better test of “is he any good” would be how the managers of teams we have players on loan from might think. I’m guessing but I’d bet Pep would prefer Keane to teach Doyle than Grant McCann (he’s a knob!)

Just to add before I end. You did misquote. You used the turning up late as the reason he left Ireland squad ffs <doh>

Just my opinion but players like O Nein will thrive under him, the ones who want to work hard, improve and learn.

It doesn't matter that some of them were only 4 or 5 when he played, I'm fairly certain they will be aware of his standards and what he achieved in the game.

Be honest, would you rather a manager that might be blunt at times, but demands the best or a manager that waffles on about xg, pitch personalities and usp?

No I didn't. In no way did I connect the two. You posted a video of Quinny talking about the event in the States where they all turned up late using it as an example of Keane and McCarthy not getting on. Keane was out of order during that event. Like I said, I can accept that we disagree on it.

There's a lot of talk on this thread about Keane not being tactically astute and so on, to me that isn't the worry. The worry is if he hasn't learnt from his time with Ipswich etc that sometimes a manager needs to tone down the fear factor/criticism.
There's an excellent article from a couple of years ago on The Athletic, behind a paywall, here - with comments from previous players. Pretty much all of them state that he was spot on in terms of preparing the team tactically and organising set pieces and so on.
    Just a few excerpts:

"Norris, his former Ipswich captain, recalls being as well prepared for games under Keane as he was at any stage of his career. “The shape, tactics, set pieces — we were well-drilled. We knew what we wanted to do and what the opponents would do.”

"The guy has an amazing football brain. Some of his team-talks were genuinely amazing. He would be very coherent on what he wanted or what was happening. He completely knew the game. He was not always ranting and raving. He had the potential to be a top-class manager.”

"Edwards felt Keane’s demands improved him. He said: “I remember we played Plymouth in my first season at Sunderland. I absolutely tore the left-back a new arsehole. Roy was telling the players, ‘Give Carlos the ball’. I ran so hard up and down. I was cramping up. But then every time I got the ball, Roy was screaming, ‘Run at him!’ I was thinking, ‘Is he ****ing taking the piss?’ I was running off fumes. But I relished it because he knew I had the beating of the guy and he gave me that little push to go the extra mile. There are certain players who are ready to give up when they are tired. That is when he went mental.”

    Similar feelings this morning mate.
I worry its a heart over head decision. The appointment doesn't fit in with the plan we have been fed over the last year
I'd expected a current overseas coach who continued to develop the playing style.

On the other hand the boost its given everyone is fantastic. cant wait for Saturday.
All in all I have a nagging doubt but I do trust the new setup to deliver long term Suspect it will be a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

My thinking now is that the coaching staff that come in to work with him are crucial
Keane is a great figurehead but has been out of the coaching set up for years.
Now if we could bring in someone like Michael Carrick to work with him that would be a game changer.

Imagine we don't get Keano after all this and end up with either Warnock or Woodgate. Total deflation
