What I liked about Ross was the way he galvanised the team straight away. We'd come down with a whimper, defeatist attitudes everywhere around the club (including the fans - we were all rock bottom), but within a couple of weeks there seemed to be team spirit and camaraderie. Obviously it all fell apart, but he had a tough job from the outset. Parkinson and then Johnson should have been able to build on what they had.
My last visit was in 1973, forget what game it was. I hate the place, another White Elephant imo., built at tax payers expense to line southern pockets .
Looks like there is something coming up on SAFC YouTube channel at 8 about Defoe. His first interview I presume...
Only Sunderland could lose 6-0 on Saturday, sack the manager on Sunday, and threaten to sell out the next match by Tuesday. There've been some lows through the years, but highs like this make up for them. Can hardly imagine what it'll be like on Saturday if Defoe scores.
Over 2000 tickets sold today alone…. Shaping up to be quite the return ! me and the old man will be there.
Just watched this and I think that there's now a proper leader in the dressing room. He'll do all he can on and off the pitch to get this club promoted, from talking to youngsters giving them encouragement and guidance, to the "senior" and other first team players egging them on to do everything to get a result. Welcome home Jermaine!
Mad thing is, Ross would probably be a reasonably good fit now. Came too soon for him. Was a classy fella but absolutely bottled it at the end.
