How easy is it to go negative, for example if I try and upgrade my car, or sign drivers, will it let me do it if it'll put me negative? (Un)fortunately the last race gave me an extra $7.8m, so I'm quite flushed for cash!

Looking towards the next race, I'm trying to work out whether the soft tyres will last long enough for a 2 stopper. I reckon they'll do 24 laps (to 0% tyre), so maybe not, unless anyone has data that says differently? How worn to the tyres have to get before they go bad, and lap times drop off? Otherwise it looks like I'm going for medium tyres, and a 2 stopper.

I have my eye on this driver for next season. I'm just worried about him staying under 85 at the end of the season. Would he be worth taking a risk with?

As for the race, I tried a 2 stopper on meds but ended up pitting 2 laps from the end with tyre wear but was good data for me. Looking forward to my first full season next season. I'd have made it if I'd started with 120l of fuel.

He should be ok to race once without going over 85 but if you're unsure then you could just skip the next few races and start strong next season.

Canary - I think the softs are very close to call. I have gone with the medium option, currently p1 (q1) ahead of the championship leader and winner of the last 2 races so these tyres have good pace. I am also going to go 15mil negative to bring my drivers oa down, motivation is currently 250 so that should bring the overall below 86 (i hope). There is a formula for working out oa but i haven't found it yet.

If you go negative then you cannot buy new parts. What you need to do is to get down to low igure and then change everything on your car. What you can do then is to bid on drivers, that you have no interest in signing, i.e. 1 salary, and then cancel the bid. It costs 500K every bid you do.

Tezct, that driver looks OK, but you'll need to train him before you'll be scoring any major points, and it could take a while.

like happyal said his not the best driver on track or to work with, his oa is 82 already and for ur driver to do well ull need to train him for a full season ans given that hes already at 82 with all that training and racing ull lose ur driver, if u wanted to to could do what Christian did in gettin a driver with really high talent who is really young and has a really low salary (200k-300k). if hes oa is below 69 he is very trainable. one tip ill give is try to get one just below 200 talent and as high motivation as possible. when train his concentration his motivaion goes up so when his motivation his 250 he will no longer gain motivation, his oa will increase 1 point every few races aswell so u wouldnt have to worry too much with his oa. the pros say it should take 1 season of patience to get ur driver win worthy the following season. hope it helps

    TheModdestMatt
the estimated amount of motivation to oa point ratio is different with every driver but roughly 13 motivation = 1 oa point, just divide the amount of motivation by 13 and that will give an estimate amount of oa loss if goin 15 mil in the red. im not sure bout the rest of the attributes tho havnt dug in that far yet

Thanks for the input guys. I'll not go for that driver. I'd like a driver I can work with for a few seasons so that I can learn and understand how everything works and effects races.

    Try this guy,

He'll need alot of work so you won't be scoring many points in your first season with him.

Personally I don't think that Talent is all that important, I think it's better to get a driver to get you out of Rookie and then dump him.

Thanks for the advice, my driver is already at 94 so i dont think it is possible to get him 70 or under for the end of the season, or is it 85 and under?

I do not think the soft tyre will last long enough for a two stopper, so I think I am going to go for a three stopper on the extra softs. Or maybe a two stopper on the mediums. Hmm.

EDIT: I am going to be boring and do a two stopper on the mediums.

ok qualifying is done, gone for 248 fuel p1 in q1 and p6 in q2 so probably a bit too heavy for the first stint but the medium tyres will do quite a few laps so hopefully it pays off later, good luck guys.

Salary is 380k. Already started training concentration. This guy could be quite useful at the end of the season. Roll on season 29!

    Hi tezcat,

He looks OK, will need alot of training for his concentration, and make sure you resign him before he goes above 85. As long as you know he'll take a while you seem to have a good driver.

    happyal,

He's my long term project. I wanted a driver I could train a lot so I could learn from him and see the effects training has on a driver. He should come good for season 29 so that's the season I'll be trying to get promoted in. By then I should have learn't a little more about car set up and strategies. This whole game is now a long term project for me :)

Tezcat, you've got a very similar driver to me. Mine has talent 231, slightly higher concentration and the rest are pretty much the same. The only thing you'll have to worry about is his Overall going up quite quickly. From what I'm managed to glean, concentration is quite important to overall, so pretty much every concentration training session will put OA up. In your case you're pretty lucky as it starts pretty low. The other issue will be motivation. If 13 points of motivation = 1 point of overall, as soon as you start to go well the motivation will sky-rocket, and your overall will do the same. Thats the issue I'm having, and I'm now having to go negative at the end of the season to pull his motivation down.

Hey guys, I have had serious issues with my ISP and the last two races i have JUST managed to log in 10 minutes left on quali so just ran everything with 500 500 etc. It should all be sorted now though :)

I will read back what I have missed and check the group. Unfortunately it wont let me assign another admin as far as I can see.

Just signed a new contract with my driver for 17 races and his motivation raised from 70 to 120.. making an overall jump from 79 to 83.. eeeps..

Driver training Fitness Class helped nothing at all for the OA this time.
    Stamina: 24 +2 = 26
    Motivation: 120 -5 = 115
    Weight: 78 -1 = 77

Any suggestion on how to keep my driver?
I have two parts at 91% wear. Anyone know if his motivation sinks if you DNF due to car braking down?

Or is it better to let him not start at all by not qualifying? will that do anything to his Motivation?
