I'm going to predict the following: CB name leaked between 5-6pm AOB completes Pompey deal between 6-7pm Defoe announced 7pm CM name leaked between 7-8pm CB signing announced 9.45pm Random loan signing out of nowhere announced at 10.30pm Gooch and Flanagan departures announced between 10.30-11.00pm CM not signed in time
AoB always looked like he had a lot to offer the right team, we are just not the right team for him. gooch i do like, he is unpredictable and causes defenders problems, there is little doubt about that...unfortunately he also causes himself problems by taking the extra touch or making the wrong choice of final ball, we have had worse players and the lad was basically hoyed on the pitch wherever we needed a 'filler in', i hope he comes good somewhere. flanagan is a strange one, last season i would have been happy to wave him away but he really did seem to turn it around for this one, then for no real reason he resorted back to flappy legs, i hoped his first bad game was just going to be a one off but he continued it into the next, no hard feelings towards him either as he never hid and did his errr 'best'. actually wish them all well to be honest but the downside is that a new 'boo boy' will need to be found...wonder who the crowd will choose?
Tough , as far as I am concerned he has gone backwards and said so many times . Gooch has never fulfilled his potential he certainly is not a left back / wingback and as part of an attacking three his back tracking to support Cirkin is very questionable if non existent, given the opportunity I would sell him .
I agree with all of that apart from your last sentence.. I don't think we have got at any players recently like the PL days .. maybe on social media but at games i think the crowd have been patient .
Players should play where the manager decides where they are needed even if the manager and the player are both wrong , so tough the manager has to have the final say .
oh aye, sorry...i did not mean to suggest he had got a lip on over it just he never looked happy playing there, as in his overall game suffered...the lad tried wherever he was on the pitch but as you said earlier he just never really kicked on.
Shifting Gooch would be a mistake for me. Smacks a bit of the financial reasons being put ahead of the footballing ones. I assume fees for him and flannagan are too good to turn down and we need to balance the books.
I've been suspended from twitter for saying O'Brien is a hard worker but prone to occasional donkey behaviour Have had to delete that tweet but now can't use twitter for 12 hours. on deadline day. NOOOOOO
And now some numpty is replying to me saying we are selling Gooch, O'Brien and Flanagan to "save money" and bring nobody else in... and I can't reply to tell him he's an idiot
That is my thinking. As far as I know we have to stay within a percentage of revenue. Batth will be on decent money, as will Roberts. If Defoe lands it wont be peanuts you imagine. AoB and Gooch will be on decent money so you would have to think something needs to give.
