Lacking the ability to stop giving goals away, all three forwards are injured although looks like Procter will play even though he needs a hernia operation. A match against the Latics is possibly not what you want. Dickov will have these lads fired up for a localish Derby. Kuqi and Chris Taylor useful players at this level actually will settle for a point
I would suggest that Northend are in a mess when they have to play a young injured striker (Proctor). It now seems like he has been carrying the injury since the start of the season. This is NO way to treat a youngster starting off on his proffesional career, it is putting his footballing future at risk. Phil Brown should never have entertained the idea and brought a striker in at the start of the season. Tonight's game is a great opportunity for Oldham to leap frog PNE in the table and in Paul Dickov they have a manager who will be demanding and getting 100% commitment. Northend have a mountain to climb in this game following their previous results and performances, and it is very important that they do and help to restore confidence both on and off the field. P Brown has not been able to bring a loan player/s in which Northend badly need, so it is make do and mend. Can the Lilywhites grab all three points and get back on track ????? well they will have to score at least 2/3 goals in order to do it, as the team's defending is dire and I am being kind when I say DIRE. I would setttle for the one point having lost our two main strikers, but one point wont pacify many fans. A tough game ahead I am afraid. Can't make it tonight, a bit under the weather Mens flu according to Mrs TFP , my grandson is most disappointed so hoping that a win can cheer him up.
Another goal crazy night at Deepdale as North End and Oldham Athletic shared 6 goals between them. Oldham started the brighter although not really looking dangerous, North End looked well behind the 8 ball in the early stages. After about 20 minutes North Ed began to wake up with Mayor prominant down the left hand side, as pressure built on the Oldham goal it was only a matter of time before the North End scored and Mayor pinged a cross into the box where it was met by Tsoumou's head and into the net the ball went. Two up shortly afterwards when the impressive Coutts tore the Oldham defence to shreds down the right hand side before his rocket cross found Procter who made it 2-0. Eay peasy only 10 minutes to half time and crusing. By half time Latics were level, a ball from midfield was lobbed over the static back four and Kuqi scored although keeper Turner got a hand to it. From a free kick just outside the box(of which we gave away far to many) Wieslowski headed past Turner to level the score. Early period of the 2nd half was somewhat dull until a fluke goal gave North End the lead for a 3rd time. Devine's clearance ballooned into the October night and started to drop towards the Oldham goal, Cisak under pressure from Procter completely missed the ball and it was 3-2. Latics were non to chuffed with the decision and to be honest it did look dubious. North End were comfortable until Brown changed formation and went 4-5-1 this invited Oldham to push forward and from an Alexander slip Wieslowski buried the ball into the net from 20 yards. North End were now hanging on to a point which they duly got only just though -----
Has brownie started to blame the players in front of the cameras every time Preston don't win ? Something I hated about him when at Hull City.. I'm sure it just destroys confidence in the players heads and pisses them off.. It's never his tactics or his choice of players , substitutions etc .. I think he needs to learn to keep it in the dressing room or it won't be long before he's on his way out. He has the ability to turn decent players into poor ones with his public outbursts...
NOT YET BUT WE HAVE AN OBVIOUS DEFENCE PROBLEM WHICH WE CAN ALL SEE THAT NEEDS SORTING OUT, Brown needs to do something and soon otherwise there will be desent. (Apologies for caps lock)
