To be honest, one death in twenty thousand people is about par for the course every day ... ... I don't see it as anything more tragic just because it was at a match. In fact it's how I'd prefer to go ... ... 3pm would've been perfect today.
Christ that’s a dark comment, but admit I laughed at it. Poor sod but I bet a lot of blokes would like to shuffle off this mortal coil while at the match.
Totally agree mate TBH Im not totally in favour of matches being delayed because of some incident on 'terraces' unless it is of course it is a major event like Hillsborough. This kind of event , heart attack, etc, etc. seems to be happening/HIGHLIGHTED more often but it happens every day in our own lives Whilst I have every sympathy with families that are involved, I honestly dont think games should be delayed because of one off event But this is the snowflake society that we live in nowadays
I really shouldn’t have laughed at this but RIP to the fella, this is getting far too common now isn’t it? What a weird time. I’ve refused the booster till I do a lot more research, not gone full tin hat yet had the first 2 as quick as I could but there’s something causing all of these. Never had a game stopped for fns dropping in all my 30 plus years going to games now it’s 2 a week.
Let's say it's your father, or son, or wife and while they're being attended to while the game goes on Dan Neil rifles in a 25 yarder and the crowd around you crackers, or Flanagan hoos a clearance directly to your seats, how do you feel then?
That's a fair point but a hypothetical situation. You could equally ask what happens if it's in the extra time of a night match and someone goes down. That's almost 10.30pm before the match restarts and 40 minutes more to play. And, if after all that, what if they find the stabbing pains were be because his wife had left pins in his shirt Seriously though, I'd expect a crowd of people would clear a space for the medics, goal or not.
Ridiculous how some are relating this to the vaccines which have already saved countless lives. Also, there was an incident with a a Sunderland fan who collapsed at the top of the upper tier yesterday. It happened right next to me and the lad looked as if he’d lost consciousness before he went tumbling down the steep concrete steps splitting his head open. The police were there quickly but it took a good while for paramedics to arrive. I assisted in getting this very big bloke into a makeshift recovery position. He was actually beginning to regain consciousness just before the paramedics arrived. I have since heard that he is doing okay. There wasn’t a hint of the game being stopped because of it though.
Judging by the state of some people in the Beehive, before the match, I'm surprised only one collapsed ... ... mind you, they were in better fettle than most of the team
If I’d seen him a second earlier I mam have prevented his fall. Not sure if he was pissed or perhaps the climb up all those stairs didn’t help. It was a bit shocking for the youngens around when the blood came pouring out of his head. Anyway. Good to see you yesterday mate.
Well done for helping the lad out Marra, some people would advocate just hoying a sheet over him so as not to spoil the game, or perhaps being labelled 'a snowflake'
In my mind there's just something about someone going to a football match and not coming home that could add touch more of sadness to the obvious devastation for all his family and friends. Especially if the blokes young sons/daughters witnessed it. Going to the football with your dad but coming home on your own?
That's the only difference though isn't it? The games are being stopped now. I've seen a few times at our games the Red Cross running to help somebody in the crowd. It's always happened but for some reason every time it happens now it seems to be highlighted and the game paused. I believe its the virus that's causing people to have trouble with their hearts. I know a woman who had a heart attack just 11 weeks after testing positive and Wyke never had the jabs but he'd had covid before.
