    1. The penalty spot - saw more of the ball than Gills players
    2. Gills goal net - stopped Oxford better than Gills defence.
    3. The plastic inflatable 'cashcows.' - I had visions of Scally trying to peel off the Monopoly banknotes stuck to the side.
    4. THE COME DANCING AWARD - the Gills goalkeeper
    5. The steward who opened the gate for me ( and others ), after 50 minutes
    6. THE LOST VALUE-FOR-MONEY AWARD.... I was going to nominate myself - but - I wasn't the only one who walked out and missed 5 goals.

Right then. A thread of the key quotes from #Gills interim manager Steve Lovell’s post-#OUFC press conference…

Lovell: “The first three goals are ridiculous, the first one in particular. You’re 3-0 down to start the game. Second half the boys had a go but within two minutes it’s a penalty.” #Gills

“The goals that we’ve given away are ridiculous defensively but you have to keep working. We take the positives - Oxford are a good side and if you give them the goals you have no chance.” #Gills

“They aren’t terrible players but they have to work harder. Why does it take 45 minutes to start? The same at Wigan. You can’t give teams starts and they need to learn from it. You can work all week but if it doesn’t happen on the pitch you have no chance.” #Gills

“We have inherited a terrible situation at this football club. We have to raise them. Three weeks we’ve been here - we aren’t miracle workers. The damage has been done.” #Gills

“The penalties are ridiculous. They are all our fault. I never give in - I will keep working, Crewe is a massive game. To turn the season around is a big ask. It has to be done quickly.” #Gills

“The referee could have given us a couple of penalties today. In general play it was closer but it’s about momentum. The game was done and dusted at 3-0, but credit to the boys for having a go.”

“The boys have been hammered this season. People don’t realise how much. It has had a big say on the way they are and it upsets me for me to come in and see that from grown men.” #Gills

“It’s a disgrace. I don’t care what I say, I’ll be honest. I’m trying to lift a group of players that have not been treated in the right way as footballers. They are not in a good place, a bad bubble.” #Gills

“We’re trying to get them to play and there are signs that things are happening but decisions need to be made from a managerial point of view for the sake of the players. If it’s me, lovely, but if not, let’s get someone in quickly.” #Gills

“All I want is a bit of clarity. If it’s me, we will get players in and do what we’re doing and people know I will give everything. If not, fine - but it needs to be done quickly for us to have a chance.” #Gills

“It’s hurting me tremendously. I’m getting abused by supporters who don’t know me and it’s not fair. Do I need it? No. But all I want is a chance. If not, let somebody else do it. I won’t keep getting abused.” #Gills

“I could walk away. I just want some clarity on what’s going on. That’s something I deserve. I’ve come to try and help. If it’s not me, please tell me so I can get on with my life. Tell me as soon as possible.” #Gills

“Someone needs to come in soon because the window shuts. If it’s me, I’ll try and get players in but if not they need to come in and help these boys. I’ve had no indication at all.” #Gills

“I’ve asked Paul Scally and he said it’s on a game-by-game basis. But now, for everybody, give us a bit of clarity on what is going to be done because this can’t go on. If you don’t know who your manager is, how the heck are you going to perform?” #Gills

“I understand fans’ frustrations in football performance but not from the chants. The really don’t realise how much work Paul Scally does for this football club. It’s wrong for them to have a go - he has kept this club afloat.” #Gills

Lovell: “I am a fan but to have a go personally at Paul Scally is so wrong. If they’re going to take it out on anymore, take it out on the players, not Mr Scally. The club would not exist without him.” #Gills

“For me to be blamed for something I’m trying to overturn is wrong. They don’t realise how many hours I’m putting in. Not just me, but everybody.” #Gills

“You can’t apologise because we don’t lose games 7-2 on purpose. We don’t mean to. We need to hopefully get a result on Tuesday and if we do the fans might be happy again.” #Gills

“Everybody at the club needs a lift, including me. That will come with a managerial announcement for me and for them. I don’t know if I will be here on Tuesday, but I think I should know. We need a structure.” #Gills

“I need direction. I’ll speak to the chairman and I’m going to have to ask him questions because I feel it needs to be done for the sake everybody, but mainly the players. There have to be changes made by Monday.” #Gills

“We have lists and lists of players that are targets. If I’m here Monday I’ll be working hard to try and get them in. But it needs to be done.”

“Conor Masterson will be definitely involved on Tuesday, definitely. John Akinde and Rhys Bennett weren’t my kind of players and they weren’t going to be starting and they wanted to play games so it was best they went.” #Gills

There could be a few more going out but I’m not aware of offers. I don’t get into that, it’s what the chairman wants to do. I’ll have my say after today and we’ve always been fair and honest but clarity is important.” #Gills

“I just want to help this football club and help everybody get out this mess. Hopefully we have enough games to do it but it needs to be done soon.” #Gills

If there are any quotes I've missed it is not intentional.

It was ironic that some fans decided to bring along inflatable 'cashcows.' .... These represent what Scally thinks of GFC and its' fans.....

I would invite anyone - who wants to defend Scally to indulge me - and answer one question.....
Q : Other than the initial £ 1 that he used to 'buy' the Club in 1995, what other money ( his own money ), has Scally put into the Club?..... As I see it, any improvement to the stadium, and player recruitment, has been financed by me and other fans - and money from transfers (( which haven't always been conducted to their optimum value. ))
Scally continues to take, take, take a HUGE amount of my money each year (( plus expenses. )).... For a decade he doesn't have the decency to watch more than a couple of dozen games - because he didn't want to pay Income Tax on his so-called 'consultancy fee!
He considers himself such a brilliant football club chairman - that no other businessperson will be as clever as Scally IF anyone decides to invest in the Club.......
I suspect that Scally has made such a mess of things - that not even non-league managers want the job......
I also suspect that if Scally decides to go, Gillingham FC would cease to exist......... I would be extremely sad - but I feel THAT might be better than see Scally destroying my Club -and take - take - taking stupid money - that FANS have put into the Club....

..... What chance do I give for a new buyer ? perhaps those inflatables should have been flying pigs.

I think the telling point came for me, in one of the now infamous youtube interviews or point of view, whatever they were called. Now I can't remember the exact words, so this is not a quote, but it went the line of where he would vet any potential investor. It went along the lines of checking any potential investors had the funds they claimed. Which led to my thought....you bought it for a £1, any funds that have come into the club since, surely have been earned by the clubs own achievements, not by the investor of £1. If there was suggestion it was his knowledge and know how, then we are all doomed, because that Brian Moore stand is a total disgrace. <whistle>

brb - even if Scally got ' telephone numbers ' bids for the Club - he still wants to keep on milking the cash cow !

I think we could start with getting rid of the new keeper, I didn't expect him to be a patch on Cummings, but not only did he give a penalty away, he wasn't anywhere near any four of the spot kicks...

Well - I wasn't anywhere near the 3rd and 4th penalties (( in my car and well on my way home ! ))....... and I expect that there'll be plenty of people nowhere near Priestfield on Tuesday.

I think he's played something like 5 league games recently and only won one, come back to me when he's played a good 40 games for them.

In the meantime, he was not a keeper I rated, I see no current reason to change that view.

He's on the Stoke books, he's not their number one choice, just because Stoke have chosen to put him between the sticks, does not mean he's going to cut it and has so far lost 80% of his LEAGUE games, actually that's probably a good win ratio compared to the Gills.

We are now playing this current numpty between the sticks, does that automatically make him a L1 keeper, no - it means he's hoping to cut it at that level and after our heaviest home defeat ever in the history of the club, things are not boding well for him, I'd jump ship if he's got any sense.

I come to my own conclusions about players, whether that be right or wrong, I don't believe in towing the line of fans favourites, much the same as I wouldn't have Oliver in my team, but if you dare say a word against him, you get scorned.

Yet here we are with the worst league record in our history, let's not clutch at straws about that.

Much the same as Lovell made a judgement on Akinde, not being the type of player he would want, it's not personal it's differing views and styles.

Anyway it was a pleasure to know Charles-Cook scored against Rangers yesterday, who'd have thought it eh....hmmm, I never did understand Evans not playing him, despite his time out injured, but instead Evans has left us with a bunch of donkey's. I find nothing amusing about that.

Was just looking at some of the fixtures in L2, bring back a few memories, Leyton Orient, Crawley, Colchester.....upnorth will be happy with Rochdale. I would love Bromley to come up. So it's not all bad, just need discounted tickets to bring the fans back. National League would have been good a few seasons back, but the likes of Maidstone, Ebbsfleet and Dover are gone or will be gone. Soz trying to be positive.
