No rave can ever beat the White Goddess one in Camelford, it was the sickest rave I ever attended. 14 days of utter mentalness, oh to go back for just 24 hours lol. I'll never forget when everyone looked at each other when a band no-one had heard of took to the stage, moments later they ripped into the start of Charlie Says and the rest is history ! Glorious times

Any John Martyn fans out there? I love his music but understand he was a pretty horrible human being, a drunk, a junkie, a fighter and horrible to women. I hate it when horrible people make beautiful things. His version of Portishead’s’ GloryBox was sublime, but there aren’t any clean versions on YouTube. And his Solid Air period in the 70s left Clapton in awe. Yet he hit his wife……..
Big fan of John Martyn, troubled genius but brilliant and an intriguing life. One World is an amazing album and deserves to be listened loud or in headphones to hear all the noises he recorded in the background. Agree, annoying when you want such a talent to be a good guy and he’s so messed up; but I guess it’s tough being a genius.
Have you seen this? Obviously by this stage he was physically wrecked, and doubtless his mental health issues were longstanding. A sick man with a sublime talent. If it weren’t for the damage he did to other people I’d feel nothing but pity, and awe, for him.
