I don't see the issue with his interview. I wouldn't expect him to know loads about Hull City and the city of Hull. When Slater first joined he said the only thing he knew about the club was that we beat Wednesday in the play-off final at Wembley with a screamer from Diamé.
People from outside the box see what they see, it’s like saying Arsenal fans are stupid for slating off their manager, considering how he’s turned their season round, but I don’t know the situation with players, money etc. The press have a job to do, to get people talking, the YP covers Yorkshire, so not just Hull fans will see it, but other club’s fans, who don’t know the details behind Hull City’s season or the last 2 years with relegation. The least they could have done is put in AI’s statement about how he wanted to sort it now, rather than wait for a defeat.
Considering he has just arrived and I'm sure his English will be a bit rusty, a well measured and articulate interview. Clearly an intelligent man, and I am sure the like of KLP, subject to him staying of course, can learn a lot from him.
He looked nervous. I hope he stamps his authority at Cott before Saturday. He said the right things though. Like any leader he needs to show, and impart confidence. Not just to the players, but the fans too, and the latter was McCann's failure.
Weren't you nervous the first day in a job, added to the fact that he had to give an interview in a foreign language? I'm sure he doesn't lack confidence, strikers to be successful as he was, need bundles of it.
****ing right. Been totally flapping like a fish out of water on my first day and not had to deal with a media machine. But he's gonna have to get to grips quick.
I thought he spoke really well for a non native -like Keir Starmer on steroids . By the way he’d better be good at punctuation , grammar and street talk or ‘ him bad ‘ Or is it ‘he is bad’, I’ve got confused lately - oh dear here we go again !!!
Some nerves are good, measured is good, authoritative is good, we don't want an over confident gobshite, not in Hull.
I thought it was a good first interview from a man who has been learning the English language for the past three months. He oozes football and the love of the game and it's the first time for eleven years when we have these type of people, who fully understand and yes, love, the game in charge of our club. This type of language is not going to go down well with some around here though. Especially when he says football is in our culture. It is for many of us obviously but for many in this city I'm afraid that language is like a red rag to a bull. I like the fella already.
