At 6ft 4, he seems to add the height we need in the middle of the defence that we desperately lack.

He certainly has the pedigree, the only question is does he have the legs, the last thing we need is another Simpson, good luck to him.

I think the biggest question would be his injury record, which doesn’t make great reading, I would say more importantly we don’t want another Joe Williams.
But if he can stay fit might be what’s needed at centre back, especially if it means Vyner gets dropped, fingers crossed.

I agree, the last thing we need in tight financial times is another £15k a week signing who doesn't kick a ball in anger.

Still just just 5 months to go for him, some having been robbing a living on 'alleged' big money for far longer Wells, Palmer, DaSilva and ODowda to mention just a few.

The wage bill has been cut by a third from the past extravagances and of the hordes released at the end of last season, 'some' on here claimed we would miss some of them, well who have we missed? let's say Jamie Paterson 8 goals and 4 assists for Swansea and now deeply embroiled in a wage dispute with his new employers and not figuring in the match day squad in way shape or form and possibly even on the move already and the rest? Liam Walsh also at Swansea has played 231 minutes all season has spent as much time injured as he did with us and the rest mostly in league1.

Patterson was the only one I thought was mistake to let go, and still do. The rest I was very comfortable with being released.

I might have kept Fammy too with hindsight - but I was comfortable at the time because I mistakenly thought we would be replacing him!

I did say at the time, that maybe we keep Fammy, but only if he took a significant wage drop. Clearly he wouldn't do that, so I'm happy he's gone tbh.

negotiations pretty much stopped when NP took over. Fammy was well settled here, agent was not helpful ....biggest tripping point. As I showed in the post cost of selling saving buying sometimes is not a saving with F AMMY IT HAS BEEN, BECAUSE NOT REPLACED but so our goals for has suffered. Comments made recently "not scoring enough" so letting them in is the problem..........

I don't see it that way, Weimann already has more goals this season than Fammy ever got in any season for us. AW has flourished with opportunities he didn't get with Fammy in the team, and AW adds way more to the teams work rate for my money.

it is a hindsight thing ... a we will never know... occassionally a player will be good, have many highlights then 1 season comes along and it clicks 2021/22 is WEIMANN YEAR

I was actually talking about somebody else.

I agree fully with this, Diedhiou's lack of control forced Weimann to drop back deeper in search of the ball or was played out wider,

The one positive of not replacing Fam is Semenyo has had opportunities he wouldn’t have had otherwise, hopefully in the long run this will work out well for him, and us.

Agree and now with the run of games has got to full match fitness and as shown with the assist for Weimanns goal on Saturday, his upper body strength is impressive, he shrugged Flint off as though he was nothing.

Other positives (in a back handed way and obviously not ideal) was injuries at the beginning of the season to Massengo and Williams and later King and James, because it has allowed Scott to cement his place and flourish, I think a partnership of Massengo, Scott and a fully fit Williams could be a great central midfield. Also DaSilva's injury has brought Pring to the fore as well and not forgetting the realisation that Weimann is a striker and not a midfielder. Sometimes out of adversity players grab their chance with both hands, hopefully Klose is the part of the jigsaw to stop conceding at set pieces???
