    Hull City v Swansea City

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - MKM Stadium
    Date - 29 January 2022
    Kick off - 3:00pm

Following their hard-fought and fully deserved draw away at promotion chasing QPR, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a tricky looking away match against improving Hull City.

On Tuesday evening, the Swans ended Queens Park Rangers' four-game Championship winning streak after a hard-fought goalless draw at the Prince Kiyam Stadium.

Luke Amos came closest to a goal when he hit the woodwork, while Lyndon Dykes wasted a big chance to win it late on.

Joel Piroe was denied at the other end as Swansea, who had Flynn Downes sent off in added time, stretched their unbeaten run to three games.

QPR boss Mark Warburton said he was "not sure it was necessary" to send Downes off. "I will be honest, I didn't think it was a red card," he said.

The draw meant that Rangers stay fourth, while Swansea remain 17th.

Last Saturday, Ryan Longman's second-half strike secured Hull City victory over Bournemouth.

Emiliano Marcondes hit the post while Dominic Solanke sent two headers wide as the second-placed Cherries dominated but couldn't find the back of the net.

Tom Eaves also had a long-range shot tipped over the bar for the visitors before Longman's strike secured the three points.

Despite a second successive victory over a side chasing promotion (they had beaten Blackburn in their previous game) Hull sacked Grant McCann, less than a week after they were taken over by the Turkey-based Acun Medya Group.

McCann departed with the Tigers in 19th place but a ‘healthy’ 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

The Swans have played the Tigers on 79 previous occasions, winning 31, losing 29 and drawing 19.

Without doubt the most memorable match between the 2 sides took place on 3 May 2003 - Swansea’s 4-2 win secured their Football League status in the final game of a season in which it seemed certain for a long time that they would be dropping out of the FL:

Ahead of Saturday’s match, Hull’s new owners are expected to unveil ex-Rangers and Ajax striker Shota Arveladze as their new head coach at a press conference on Friday.

This follows an announcement by Hull on Wednesday that they are now free of transfer restrictions after paying back the total of their monitored loan from the EFL - this was backed up on Thursday with the signing of Sheffield United midfielder Regan Slater for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Turning to Saturday, even without the suspended Flynn Downes, the Swans are more than capable of securing at least a point.

That said, Hull will he hoping to maintain their recent improvement, particularly in front of their new head coach.

    I’m going for a 1-1 draw. <cheers>

Thanks Taff. I must admit I am bullish about this one even though Downes will be missing. I think we will come away with at least a point. I am going for a third consecutive clean sheet and a 2-0 win to the Swans.

Thanks again Taff.....travelling up to see the game tomorrow and I think this is a winnable game assuming we don’t start too slowly...last time up there as a spectator we drew four each on a televised Friday night game which we really should have won.

I also think 1 - 1 is a good call. They've been buoyed by recent results but I think bringing the new guy in (ludicrous) will destabalise them a tad.

Per the BBC, Manchester City defender Finley Burns is set to join us on loan for the rest of the season.

    Could play Tuesday against Luton.

After 33 mins, we have had 62% possession yet only 1 shot which was off target.
They have had 38% possession, with 2 shots, both not only on target but in the net ….

    2-0 at HT

Get Smith off and Ntcham on.

Revert to a back 4 and take a defender off and give Joseph a run (although we could also do with Mary, Jesus and the bloody wee donkey …… )

BBC saying that there are reports coming out of Adams Park that Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has been the subject of offensive chants while warming up on the sidelines. MK Dons fans have been asked to stop …..
