Its a fact that some of those less prosperous parts of the country have already missed out on funds allocated instead to areas that are more prosperous.

You've quoted one of them. HS2. It's a huge project, costing about £100 bn. And this, after the world is recovering from a pandemic

Researchers at the Centre for Inequality and Levelling Up (CEILUP), based at the University of West London, found that 61% of the most deprived areas in England have not been allocated any funding from the £4.8bn Levelling Up Fund (LUF).

The allocations, made in October 2021, were intended to provide for infrastructure investment in deprived areas. The researchers found that one-third of LUF funding was allocated to areas among the 70% least deprived, as was 71% of the £221m UK Community Renewal Fund.

Thats the first source i came to out of pages. Its no secret

With its cobbled market square surrounded by art galleries and tea shops, Richmond in North Yorkshire seems an unlikely priority for Rishi Sunak’s “levelling up” fund designed to bring left-behind communities up to their wealthier neighbours.

But the town in the Chancellor’s constituency, overlooked by a Norman castle described by English Heritage as having been built to “subdue the unruly North”, has found itself in the top bracket for a share of Mr Sunak’s £4.8bn pot of cash.
Despite many many more deprived areas recieving less or infact no funds.

Sky reported at Xmas that 2/3rds of the first round of levelling up payments went to the most deprived 25% of areas in England.

You’ve made a claim that the financial sector sees infrastructure projects in other areas… such as?

A Conservative MP has been accused of ‘callousness’ after claiming a £1 parking charge on expenses.

Royston Smith, lodged the claim after visiting a food bank in his Southampton Itchen constituency, official records show.

I bet the volunteers at the food bank paid for their own parking!

I said tax monies taken re financial services will be used on infrastructure. Bob was questioning why the financial sector prospering matters to the average northern person in the street.
