Be cool, if we were highly paid professionals we’d wait and look over all the concrete offers that have arrived with one or two days left of the window; then we’d decide…. I’m optimistic they’ll arrive, I’m just not sure who ‘they’ are yet - but they’ll be an improvement
Whereas we do need reinforcement and it will be disappointing if they don’t arrive, nobody should forget we are better off than we were at the start of the season. Trippier alone is huge. Wood over Gayle. Howe over Bruce. I expect players to arrive but I’m happy enough we’ve moved forward anyway despite the owners being left with a bit of a smelly turd.
I have always been astounded that our fans say "why do other clubs sign players so quickly and we dont" but... we don't follow the news of other clubs religiously like we do NUFC, we have no idea how long they've been linked for. Arsenal have been chasing Bruno all ****ing summer, I had no idea. I can guarantee Arsenal fans are sat there saying "why do Newcastle do it so quickly and we don't?"
Sevilla sporting director Monchi has been speaking to BBC Sport's Alex Bysouth about Newcastle's interest in defender Diego Carlos. “The Newcastle offer has been a good offer, a respectable offer, I have to say that. But the offer, our board, our management team, felt that it wasn’t enough. “It is true that maybe it wasn’t the right time, it is a difficult market to find a replacement for a player like Diego Carlos and it is a market which takes place over a very short period of time – so maybe if that offer came along or will come along in the summer, well things will have changed. “The offer was a very good offer, very respectable, not at the best possible time and Diego Carlos, well I was talking to him this morning and he is happy, because at the end of the day he is staying here at his club, a club that really wanted him. If he was angry then maybe he would have changed his opinion but no, he seems quite happy.” I think we will be signing him in the summer then.
A good example of the difficulties of the January transfer window. Perhaps Sevilla have investigated with another club the possibility of replacing him and they can’t get said player out. Lots of moving parts.
January is really difficult time to sign players, as soon as you come in they begin to panic and look at their table. Lyon are midtable right now, **** season. They will not replace Bruno now and he's a key player for them, I understand fully their reluctance to sell him.
That's just the media frenzy, mate, they can't have day after day about Newcastle, will turn off listeners to Talksh!te and Sky Spurts.
That sounded sensible Roly, where's the deranged panic we are all used too? please log in to view this image
I think because Lyon are in such a weak position, they have to sell. There's no Euro football for them. £40m is a lot in the French market, they'll just reinvest in 3 or 4 young players in the Summer to rebuild. Will they get £40m in the Summer? Nope.
