Having family around is one of the many reasons we are moving back home. Left the North East 40 years ago and kept in and out of touch with aunties, uncles, cousins etc but always felt a bit of the outsider being so far from home.

My mam and dad also moving back as well, it's be one of the highlights seeing mam and her sisters smiling laughing and carrying on when they have been together and it has really helped my mam who has struggled for the past couple of years.

As we have all got older and some loved ones have passed away, the sense and importance of family has grown, we have always been a close family, I would say typical of the North East in that you look after your own and moving back brings us all back together

One of my biggest regrets is not spending more time with my grandad. He passed away a few years back but it’s something that as I’ve grown older I’ve become more uneasy with.

hindsight is a wonderful thing but it doesn’t half make you feel ****ing guilty. At the very least it’s made me work on my relationship with my mam a lot more.

Sorry to hear this mate. I get the feeling it's deeper than a comment about clobber.

First heard this in the comp in 1997, they then rebooted it 2 years later and made this masterpiece. I'd didn't get it then, but I'm starting to now.

It's an absolute work of genius that will never grow less relevant, probably more.

You might say I've lived my life by some of the sentiments in that track.

I do things when it's much easier not to bother, take risks if there's an adventure to be had and am kind to people in the hope they return that kindness.
I send flowers for no reason whatsoever, tell my adult sons I love them and do the daftness things simply for the amusement of people around me.

I drive hundreds of miles alone to see my team, keep in touch with my friends and never pass up the chance to see my grandkids even when I'm really too tired. Despite my many faults and mistakes in life I'm really glad to be me, every day is a surprise because I never know wtf I'll do next <laugh>

Haven't heard that in years - probably since I was 17. Brilliant and very pertinent, certainly more so over the last couple of years.
