Best of luck Denver (especially in the games against our rivals).

Good luck to the kid... he seems to divide opinions with fans... but he’s been with SAFC for a long time, hope it works out for him

Good luck to him. Got no issue with the contract stand off in the summer, the lad has a right to wait for the best deal.

Think it's a good move for all parties as he's not a player I would take to the Championship

Having signed the renewal in the summer, I thought he was one who would be around for a while, but for whatever reason LJ doesn't seem to fancy him. Good luck to him.

I quite like him and think with the right coaching and a long run of games under his belt he'll be a good player.

However, I prefer Cirkin who is a better defender and arguably a better crosser.

Didn't realise we had two Denver Humes.

The one I remember ran about a bit, lost the ball a lot and spend most of the time athletically injured.

Good luck to the lad. There is a very good player in there. With the right coaching, and a good return to fitness he is able to play championship level. Shame it never worked for us and there a few reasons I can think of, but ultimately he wont progress playing backup to Cirkin, which would be the reality for him here.

The lad could go on and play at a decent level simply because of his pace. When we used it effectively he was one of our more important players. However with the development of our forward line the need for him to provide an outlet is gone. He's lightyears behind cirkin in every department except pace and we don't really NEED it like we did.

What I like about this whole thing is we let him sign a contract,on our terms, knowing we'd happily sell ensuring we'd either get a decent left back or a fee with add-ons.
Its basics but it's something we've not done right for a long time.

This for me. He showed potential when he broke through but seemed to go backwards. He's relatively quick without the ball but slow with it and is let's be honest a poor defender.

Nothing against the lad just my observations and good luck to him but I don't think he will be missed.

Almost certainly playing league 1 next season, not much ambition there. Must have been desperate to get away.

I really hope he finds himself, he's looked lost for a while now.

I have to say I think the club should be commended for the way they've handled all of this.

From looking after him during his injury to taking money off Portsmouth I doubt we could've done any better.

Personally I wouldn't move to Portsmouth, for twice what I'm earning, but fair play to the lad for having the guts to go.

Thanks for the memories, and the odd ticket, Denver.

This is where loans are crucial for the young lads at 18/19. If he and say, Benji, had gone and got a couple of full seasons, even at northern/national league level I think their careers would have been a lot different imo. I wish the lad all the best and hope he smashes it and gets a bigger move (therefore earning us a few more quid <laugh>).

Totally agree on the loans bit mate. I think it's symptomatic of how our academy has been treat for 10 or more years that promising young players weren't getting loaned out early enough to develop and progress, meaning they weren't ready for our first team and stagnated with odd games here and there until they get released. That in turn meant the under 23s became stagnant, pushing us to have to recruit more "established" players for the first team. But our managerial turn over meant they weren't always regulars as new managers wanted to bring in their own players, so we ended up with a bloated squad with mercenaries or journeymen blocking younger players progressing, and the younger players being released without having had a chance to develop here, only to get that chance somewhere else. Then Donald came in and decided to flog any of our promising young players at the first bid.
