If you think a scolloni like Shakespeare invented new words just 'cos it suited the pomologoid of his plays then you're a sadder fustollery than I thought you were.
I’m no expert but the Grammar Police would bang you up for a life sentence with the amount of errors in that statement.
Ah , so if ‘my’ is possessive, and ‘bad ‘is an adjective and they do not work it’s ok Whereas if I say ‘My bad decision’ for instance it means something, so does ‘ I’m bad’ Which of the above is more comprehensible ? It’s not about ‘acceptance’ it’s about making the phrase or statement commonly understandable , otherwise law for Instance is f***d
I’m sorry it can’t be discussed on here. It’s on topic & has nothing to do with Rugby (Union or League), poor spelling or incorrect use of hyphens, commas, abbreviations, full stops or apostrophes. Lets try to keep it relevant.
Beyond that, if they're not teaching basic spelling and grammar at schools, what the **** are they filling the days with?
Yeah there’s a few caps missed in a hurry, blame texting for sloppy punctuation on my part . is that better sir?
No space needed before a full stop. Thought they’d have taught you that in your day. Capital letter after a full stop, that too. My bad, sorry.
Must admit I was taught all that and in work stuff I do it right, but on here and texting I am at fault.
I would have never written in slang terms though. The only time I wrote as a child/teen/young adult was at shool, college or work so it always had to be formal. Social media has no such expected standards and so some people type as they talk. It must be horrendous for english teachers marking teenagers' essays now.
Yes so the medium of speech has changed with the advance of technology, not sure that is really a commentary on the younger generation or just the advancement of society.
It is a joke a lot of the time. And it is only certain people. Bullying? You are getting as soft as Ben. It is obvious when it is predictive typing or a typo. Pulling people up about misspelling and misspelling the word misspelling when doing so is just hilarious. And note, he brought up the subject in the first place in a non relevant reply to a post about political posts,
He invented quite a lot and reintroduced words which weren't being used. My grandson moans about being taught Shakespeare every time I see him. I tell him after doing Chaucer we regarded Shakespeare as light relief.
