I’ve been trying to think about players more in terms of roles and attributes than positionally, as I think that’s how many of the more progressive and successful coaches and DoFs in the game think. In that sense, he’s basically a budget Brozovic. Obviously a key player in Conte’s Inter team. Like I said above, I think he brings a combination of attributes that we don’t currently have, and given how Conte wants us to play, I think that’s important even if he’s not an elite player.
Stats don’t always tell the full story. I remember Luka Modric for example, we all knew he was an absolute baller but he didn’t score or assist a lot. Same as Mousa Dembele. Amrabat is different to both of those though, he still sounds more defensive.
I've just watched a couple of videos about Amrabat , if nothing else he will get the heart rate up due to the chances he takes when on the ball around his penalty area , the lad has some skills
By all accounts it's looking like Amrabat will be first through the door, sounds like more or less everything is done and seeing as we signed Gil when he was at the Olympics, I assume Amrabat's medical/ contract signing can/ will be done out in Cameroon.
Some Portugeezer is claiming we’ve bid €45m plus bonuses for Porto’s Luiz Diaz who’s been killing it this season. Now this is a signing I can get behind. Not happening, mind. Probably €45m spread over 45 years and the bonuses are if we win three successive CL titles.
Exciting winger that has scored 14 in 18 league game this season and was joint top scorer alongside Messi at Copa America. Yes please
Knowing Spurs of the last few years, we can almost guarantee one of two things. Scenario A - we've left it too late in the window to get a big money deal done and Spurs will give the implication they tried their best but just couldn't get the deal completed in time, because it's not like we had the previous 24 days to begin negotiations. Scenario B - we actually pull it off, Diaz pens a deal but turns out to be the next N'Jie and we sell him in 3 years time to a team in Turkey. But in general, this is a signing that'd initially excite me, having a blinding season and been good for Porto in general beforehand.
Just seen that Amrabat has only started twice for his club this season , this is such a Tottenham transfer
Given our previous history in Portugal, shall we call 'Scenario A' - 'The Moutinho Scenario' and 'Scenario B'- 'Doing a Postiga'...?
One question/ problem about Diaz's possible signing - and it's a bloody great problem to have - is who plays on the right side behind Kane out of him and Son should he join (he probably won't, lol)? Both Son and Diaz are inverted wingers on the left side, where they prefer cutting in on their right foots. Son is extremely ambidextrous and one of his best ever goals came from running down the right, cutting inside and slotting it in with his left vs Chelsea at Wembley, he's hit a couple of pearlers with his left too (Leicester springs to mind) but do we take Son, who's been fantastic for us on that left side, out of his preferred side to make way for someone else?
It will look like it will happen only for it to all fall through at the last minute, Or his agent will use us to attract interest from bigger clubs and he will sign for someone else last minute. Its the hope that kills you
I’m not sure we’ll get him anyway so possibly a moot point but yes, I think Sonny can play on the right and I imagine it’ll be a fluid pair of players either side of/behind Kane anyway.
So who’s going to be the big player we ‘tried to sign’ ‘negotiations ongoing’ and ‘couldnt agree wages’ with? who’s the man?
Of course we ain't getting him, but it's something to build our hopes up at, as well as discuss possible tactics only to then throw tantrums on the 31st, lol.
