Must win game this if we want to finish in the top 4. We can't afford any more slip ups with Spurs a point ahead and a game in hand, and with Utd grabbing a last gasp (offside ?) win today.
0-0. HT. Another terrible performance. This is the same as vs. Liverpool, only difference is we’re playing a much worse side. Not creating much, build up is too slow, no penetrative passes, zero progression in central areas, we look laborious when we get to the edge of their box and we’ve had 2 shots on target (1 I think would have been offside if Odegaard’s shot went in and the other was a harmless free kick). It’s all just too slow and playing right into Burnley’s hands.
FT. 0-0. **** performance, **** result, **** referees. Just an all round **** day. Feels like a loss. If you can't create a proper chance against a team rooted bottom of the league, what hope do you have of achieving anything? Any top-4 hopes we had are gone. Out of both cups too. A miserable month. Arteta has a lot to answer for, but so do the club for not reinforcing the glaringly obvious areas of the squad that we needed to strengthen. Season over.
Told my son this morning, we cannot keep on relying on Saka an ESR to bail us out. Don't know where the goals are coming from..Laca is no where clinical, our best midfield pair is Xhaka and Partey. We have some real issues.. I cannot see us making top6, let alone top 4! Why not re-integrate Auba back into the side?
Didn’t see the game as I’ve been out. But sounds as though the same problems have surfaced again. I.e lack of decent strikers and lack of depth in the squad. massive week next week for Arteta and edu to address this now glaring problem.
Sigh. Artetas Arsenal - looks like things are moving in the right direction then BAM the ****show returns. If we played like we did against City every week we would make TOP 4 with ease but if we play like we did against Burnley every week then its bottom half of the table. I don't understand how the intensity can vary soo much under this manager.
I was probably reacting a bit too emotionally. We're 2 points behind Man Utd with a game in hand, and there's 17 games left to play, so nothing is sealed yet. However, I can't say I'm optimistic that we're going to achieve what we want. Knocked out of every competition in the space of two weeks and currently 6th in the league. More red cards than goals this month. Day 24 of the window, we need a striker and a CM, yet we're no closer to getting anything. We cannot rely on our current forward options for the remainder of the season. And likewise, we can't rely on Xhaka/Partey being available (either through suspension or injury), so we need more bodies. It's criminal that we've let it get to this. Unless we find a way of reinforcing this squad, we are going to have an extremely tough second half of the season and our decent form in the first half of the season will all have been for nothing.
Other than the FA Cup we're basically similar. I'd rather have points on the board than games in hand because even though Conte's improved us nicely, it's hard being optimistic when seeing some of the players that are still contracted here. Squad depth is gash and our XI also needs work, second time in three seasons we've approached a season with one senior striker in Kane, we then wonder why the guy keeps getting injuries where he's had zero rest. **** knows why we think waiting in the window is a good idea though. Conte's hinting in more and more conferences about the need for signings and it seems our hierarchy are gonna be twiddling their thumbs until the 31st where we'll probably sign Traore (****ing yay ) and then act like we were close to two or three big money deals. North London's clearly where all the fun's at...
