I think what Tigerboy might have in mind is when Doc wins the ball on the edge of the box, that's good, then brings it out quickly, also good, but sometimes he fails to look up and runs straight into the opposition when a quick look up and a pass is on. I recall him doing it a couple of times a game over the last 4 or 5.
Having said that in no way does it make him crap or the worst player on the pitch.

Yeah pretty much what I wanted to say, I guess I called him crap cause everyone else has been really great and he’s the only one that has stood out as being particularly poor in possession. Thank you for translating :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Doc covers a lot of ground, him & Honeyman seem to be everywhere, but yesterday I did see Doc run with the ball near the end, down the left, all the way to the goal line, near the corner, but instead of turning towards goal & kicking it against the defender & winning a corner, he turned away, I assume trying to keep possession, but just knocked it out for a goal kick.
Sometimes he doesn’t seem to know what to do, unlike last season.

You mean when trying to run the clock down he carried the ball 70yards…at the end of the game…despite covering every blade of grass - how dare he not win a corner :emoticon-0138-think

To go with another retro TV character Terry McCann, who several people will insist on calling our "Head Coach".

I’m not saying he’s bad, or that no one else makes **** ups, but just saying yesterday was one of those games for him.
As a player, he & Honeyman are the best committed on the pitch, but they need to make the right decisions.

To quote the legendary Alan Partridge: You're entitled to your opinion - you're wrong, but you're entitled to your opinion.

I do see the point being made, Docherty has made a few errors in recent games. He’s done loads of good stuff too, and to say he’s been our worst player is a stretch. You could make a case that that has been Bernard, who has been very panicky in the last two games.

But being the poorest performer in a side that has just put in two incredible team performances is a bit meaningless. They’ve all been superb.

But a few of Bernard’s panicky situations were a direct result of Docherty giving away possession in very dangerous areas and putting everyone under pressure.

But you’re correct, overall great team performance! On to the next :emoticon-0103-cool:

Blimey, I thought that run from Docherty was quite remarkable. Had me on my feet. Took the ball 80 yards down the pitch at the end of 270 minutes football in 7 days, and ok didn't win the corner but was far better than just hoofing the ball down the line and conceding possession. Didn't think he was at his best yesterday, and he still has room for improvement on how he uses the ball, but he's the best box to box midfielder I can remember us having for years. Unbelievable engine. Bit like Dean Marney in the 2008 promotion season.

I’ve noticed Docherty giving the ball away cheaply in the last few games as well. Sometimes it’s almost like he’s so full of beans all the time that he doesn’t quite have time to think about he wants to do with the ball. He gave the ball away twice in 30 seconds yesterday because he was trying to do too much rather than look up, compose himself and make a simple pass. He’s a great player and a proper grafter but he does have moments where he’s bombing forward with the ball but he doesn’t look like he knows what he’s going to do next.

If he improves his composure, decision-making and passing, he’ll turn out to be a great box-to-box midfielder.

First five minutes Baxter was slow to clear the ball
Took way too much time and their player blocked it and it nearly went in

he’s ****ing **** because of that

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion - but not their own facts. Of course the original person who used that should have added FACT at the end of their statement.

He's quite robotic I find sometimes, which I think is why he gives the ball away cheaply more so then Smallwood/Honeyman. He knows where he's expected to pass the ball and will do it anyway even if it's not on. That being said his physicality and energy would get him in most sides in the division, he and GH are a managers dream for midfielders. Hopefully he can be coached to be more productive in possession like Honeyman has since his first season with us.

I love the way that Docherty carries the ball out of the defensive third of the pitch - his distribution is sometimes erratic but he's a developing player and when he deals with this aspect of his game he's going to step up from his current standard (good Championship level box to box midfielder) to a really high level. I think his strength and energy are a vital component of our current team.

Sometimes we just see ‘flaws’ weaknesses in players game or techniques that we hope can be improved on because we want them to be better for their sake and ours - well I do . Doch like Meyler doesn’t tend to look left or right and rushes a little - but if he did !! At his age he can improve , at Hudds age he is t going to run faster !
