I had to read those words again as they didn't seem to make sense at first, but you're absolutely right. We really are in a position where Tino Livramento will have to fight for his place. Just cast your mind back to the state our squad was in a year ago, can anyone honestly say we would be in this position now? Unbelievable.
JWP and Oriol have developed some serious telepathy in CM now the way they cover each other, pass and move and make intelligent and timely tackles is getting better and better. Both are playing at the top of their form right now.
To us - Salisu. To them - not necessarily He is going to save a team like us far more points than a team like city They are not playing to Grealish’s strengths though. Bizarre signing
It is for this reason that I would not write off our chances away at Man United. Our midfield should have theirs on toast if both of them play. And I’d say our fullbacks are playing better at the moment and Salisu gets in a combined team as well Obviously if their attack fires then we could be in trouble. And their goalkeeper bails them out a lot
there was some dude came and got bernardos shirt off him. Looked like stewards were chasing a couple of numptys.
Highlights from the OS, showing a lot more of our attacking play than we saw in MOTD. A neutral who knew nothing about English football would be hard-pressed to tell which team was currently the runaway leader of the PL table. Whispering Dave predictably incandescent about the defending for their goal. I will really miss him when he retires at the end of the season, https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...ampton-manchester-city-premier-league-2021-22
Another cracking game from Forster. A fair amount of clubs will be after him when his contract is up.
I’ve been quietly impressed with him - playing in a foreign league with stop-starts. He’s adjusted well and is a natural left back . I like Tino but also think he was flagging and needed a rest 2-3 games before his injury. I’m sure he’ll be great but I’d be reluctant to start him in place of KWP or Perraud.
Really? He was totally at fault for their goal. He started to come out and he could have reached it and punched it away, but he hesitated and went back, just like last week at Wolves. Someone needs to tell him that he needs to own the area, come out and go for the ball, not stay rooted on his line. Teams now know he is hesitant, so they’ll fire crosses in just outside the 6 yard area, knowing he won’t be sure and they’ll get a chance. Yes, he saved a couple, but he was rooted for the shots by both Sterling and De Bruyne. We were lucky that they were off target. He still hasn’t signed any extension to his contract, so I reckon he’s off to Celtic at the end of the season. Then we need to decide on McCarthy or a new keeper …..
So glad the Saints highlights showed some of Che's great work before our goal. He was amazing at keeping the ball and allowed us to break
What a fantastic performance from the whole team & a big nod to Ralph. He got them fired up just enough, right formation & very good substitutions. Stand out performances from a number of players all mentioned above. Redmond was doing really well until he switched & then went off HT. I can’t believe that was tactical & assume he must have picked up a knock? I had a “few” beers & a curry with my son after game. Town was jumping. Really nice to feel that way again. So impressed with Citehs one touch ballet football, backed up by their impressive commitment off the ball to find space & cover and we matched them! Cracking performance & night.
For their goal Fraser was faced with three unmarked Citeh players, Dias, Rodri and Laporte, nearest defender was Stuart, no contest really, it was the one occasion when the marking went astray.
Just watched highlights. It’s interesting how Kyle Walker peters out of games sometimes but Kyle Walker Peters persists.
For me with the defenders holding the line it is up to our keeper to deal with crosses only 6-8 metres from the goal
