The sacking of SGE by Leicester may place in doubt the previously expected loan extension of Martyn Waghorn. Under Sven, there seemed little hope of the U21 England star breaking in to the Foxes' first XI and therefore an extended loan to the end of the season might have been given the green light. However, whoever the new boss may be, it would seem reasonabale that he'd want to look at all available players and that could mean an end to Waggy's loan at New Year. If so, it would be disapointing for City, as Waggy has certainly impressed. At the end of the day, he's not our player and NP will want to find out the intentions of the new boss there ASAP. Fingers crossed..
Yes could go either way. The new manager will want to look at all players, but if he can get that current squad playing as an organised team he will gets thumbs up from the Thais and a decent contract (if he is appointed on a short one). They are three or four still playing well and trying hard. Martin O'Neill would be the motivator they need.
He's been average at best, if we can't keep him and it forces Pearson to go for somebody else then it'll probably be for the best.
People need to step back and realise Foghorn has neither proved himself nor disproved himself. "Cough!" "Cough!" Jordan Rhodes and Jacob Butterfield "Cough!" "Cough!" I'm broadening my horizons!!
totally agree he hasnt been great but hasnt been bad either rhodes and butterfield would be amazing !
He hasn't done that bad imo, we have until january to judge him though, hopefully once he's back from injury he'll continue to prove you wrong
He is better than what we have got and is an England U21 international! For me we would be stupid to turn down the chance to sign him permanently (price permitting)
no chance with Rhodes and Butterfield maybe 50/50 at best. But is he better than what we have got already ?
It remains to be seen: Waghorn fit and picked..When he arrived he wasn't match fit. Then, just as he began to play/fit in, he goes and gets injured in an U21 game. The jury's still out....
I agree with you (tho' must admit not seen him! ), but he still has to gel with the team and start to score. (Am I right, has he only had one messy goal so far?)
If City fans ar going to continue to judge strikers solely on goals then we need to lower our standards a bit. People talk as though all decent strikers score 20 goals a season, and if they don't they're ****. It's simply not the case. The promotion season was a particularly fruitful year for us but we still only had two players on about 15 goals and that's the best we've had in ages. And yet City fans still moan at the beginning of every season that the strikers haven't scored enough. When was the last time we had a striker firing loads of goals in at the beginning of a season? Elliott is the only one I can think of and he isn't even a striker, and even then it was only one season in about 5 that he was here. The point is, gone are the days of 30-40 goal strikers, defences are so much better now. The top strikers can have a fantastic year and still not reach the dizzy heights, goal wise, of old. If a striker gets into double-figures in this league we should be happy with him. In my opinon Fryatt will do that and the other two won't be far off. There might be one or two in the league who get over 20 but that's it. It is by no means something that every team has to have, as many would have you think.
Waghorn is a quality forward, good with the ball, strong, tracks well, makes good runs and can shoot. He and Fryatt could be an amazing forward pair, when fit and in tune with each other and midfield
