They hook you in life - and now in death too... https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/19855260.ashes-fans-made-plaques-vicarage-road-cemetery/
Watford are working on a work permit for Yaser Asprilla so it is possible that he may arrive in January. He needs 15 points to qualify for a work permit and people think that he should actually now gain 18 points. His first appearance for Colombia (FIFA world ranking 16) makes a big difference because it is worth 7 points. He is still rather slight, but I watched his highlights from Colombia's game against Honduras and he does look to be an exceptional prospect. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/
Other sources suggest that playing in a friendly game will not count for points in his application for a work permit, but that the club think that Asprilla may be able to gain a work permit as an outstanding young player and due to exceptional circumstances (because he has not had the opportunity to play for the Colombian U-21 side, who have not been playing games during the pandemic). Adam Leventhal reports that Asprilla has been included in Colombia's squad for the World Cup Qualifiers against Peru and Argentina (following his impressive debut), which should strengthen his work permit application.
Given that he is apparently so good, if this comes off I wonder if he'll be training with the first team squad straight away - or if he'll be farmed out somewhere on loan?
http://sportwitness.co.uk/watfords-...e-hornets-player-hoping-something-else-first/ He still looks too slight for the physicality of the Premier League, but perhaps his incredible skill and vision may help him to cope. Tim Vickery (South American football correspondent) was full of praise for this signing on Sky Transfer Talk and was surprised just how good he was when Vickery watched him play in the international game against Honduras. However, Vickery did not think that Asprilla would yet qualify for a Premier League work permit so that he may be loaned to a Colombian team in the Copa Libertadores (in order to gain sufficient points), but then Vickery also said that he could not see how Richarlison would get a work permit. Sports Witness mentions that reports from Colombia are suggesting that Asprilla will now obtain clearance because he has been selected for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, but that he may still not come directly come to Watford.
A new date has been set for our twice-postponed trip to Turf Moor! We will now visit Burnley on Saturday February 5, 6pm GMT kick-off. The last train from Burnley to London on Sat 5th Feb leaves at 19:03, three minutes into the second half
The time and date have been chosen purely for the convenience of BT who are televising the match. No consideration given to the Watford supporters nor to the welfare of the Watford.players. The Premier League are also quite happy to disadvantage Watford in their bid to avoid relegation with the timing of the fixtures (as they did with the choice of date for the first time that the game was rearranged). Why not choose Thursday, 3rd February when there are no Premier League, Championship, F.A. Cup or European games?
Watford will need to provide enough coaches locater for a couple of thousand fans As a club we always seem to do better when it feels as though everything and everyone is against us We need to win this battles to put Newcastle where their new owners deserve them to be I would like Burnley to stay up but at Evertons expense not ours
Kalu Callay, oh frabjous day - our new £3m forward has signed. Nigeria B it is then... https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/19869054.watford-sign-samuel-kalu-bordeaux/
It would appear that the Wobbly has jumped the gun because the page has now been removed and confirmation of Kalu's signing has not yet been reported anywhere else. Same thing happened with a report of Ranieri's dismissal last night. Presumably these pages have already been prepared in anticipation of the expected events.
These two comments on the article may be spot on - and someone may well be on the carpet right now...
