Substitutions have to be questioned.. Two of the goals completely avoidable. Dennis was boiling up all the game you could see it.. Where do we go from here....
Dreadful display. Not sure how you can go from showing promise as we did against Newcastle, to a totally disjointed display like this.
Agreed...... he is just too aggressive in his manner..... sadly..... and he ...and we ... paid the price......
Well once again we collapsed defending wise . Totally hopeless. Even if did score we’d get nothing most games as we give too much away .
3 at the back must be an option to shut the spaces down. Our defence may not be good but they are not being helped by an ageing midfield that most matches just don't have enough energy, skill or willpower to compete.
A rarity that I leave early but I went with about a quarter of an hour to go. That isn't the worst I've seen a Watford team play, but that's as bad as it can be at this level. Shocking.
Good morning.... I am still rocking by that self inflicted trouncing...... Goals given away Lots of attack but not finishing on target Defensive errors Dennis getting sent off Odd Substitutions - easy i know to say after the event. I dont know what others think. I question the Pozzo way being for me and Watford.. whilst i totally understand it and their motives. It has led to many many fans expecting too much from the club...social media is full of negative nasty attacks on players and CR.... Whatever happened to the so called family club? I havent been so shocked by a game for a while ....................
You're not the only one to be questioning the Pozzos Yorkie. Remember the old saying that the rotting of a fish starts with the head. If we were asked the question of which foreign players have had the most influence at our club - past and present, then I would, personally, come up with Allan Nielsen, Heidar Helgusson and Brynjar Gunnarsson - (despite our knowledge of European football then being less than now), which doesn't say a great deal about the scouting system of the Pozzos ! Yesterday the squad had players from 17 different countries - all individuals thrown together who had never heard of Watford until coming here. Players who are cold, homesick, and only here for the money - and possibly because the Pozzos told them they were coming to a famous stadium in London (as they told Seb Prödl - which I learned from the Werder Bremen fans forum). This scattergun approach doesn't work - just a collection of little more than promising individuals thrown together with a 'manager for the season' - or in our case several managers for the season.
...and it takes time to build a team.... i am sure some of these players are good... some are clearly ...not..... A team 'a la GT' is more than the sum of the individuals... .he knew how to build that.........
Ah,the referee-maybe the explanation for last night.Better than the thought that a bunch of underpaid players found it a bit cold (tend to be more used to it in Norfolk) and may not feel a need to respect the 'Gaffer' as Gaffers dont stay long at the club & players still get their dosh. AND anyway if last nights goals had been offside they wouldnt have been onside.
I watch quite a bit of French tier three football, and it is hard not to see some of the same things happening to the clubs at that level as to what happens at Watford. Partly because of historical links many young players hoping to get into professional football come from African countries to see if they can make it. Many of them show promise, but the vast majority will make a living, but not really progress. The ones that do have a real football future of course get sold on, the thing that keeps some of the clubs afloat. Finding the better ones is the object of the scouting systems, but buying in players as a stopgap which seems to be happening at Watford currently is not common. Nearly all of the younger players are coming here from French speaking countries, and I do wonder how big a problem it is at Watford for any coach to get his ideas over with so many different languages on the training ground. I am not sure that GT had that problem.
