    Date - Sunday 23 / 01 / 22

    Venue - Selhurst Park

    KO - 14 : 00

    TV - Sky

So after schooling Arsenal it is back off to the Great Wen to meet to watch an unusually attractive , by recent standards , Palace team who imo have flourished under Viera even if their points total don’t fully reflect that opinion . Having got rid of much of their recent first team squad they made some interesting buys who have looked very promising particularly Eze and Olise and they will be a threat going forward though they still seem to lack a clinical finisher .

Random one. Why are they having internationals outside the fifa window? So if thr prem didn’t have a break they’d be missing liverpool games? Thought we could refuse to release them if it’s not during an official international window.

What's the point of a winter break?
I mean, dead handy for us given that it offsets the loss of our Africans, but there's already a huge amount of fixture congestion building at some clubs, and it can only make things worse, surely?
It might give a bit more time for players to get over infections, but that presupposes there'll be a significant decline in new ones.

Was brought in few years ago but was cancelled last year due to covid I believe.

Lot of clubs been wanting proper winter break but think they compromised with 2 week break but with half teams playing 1 weekend and other half the next so that there’s no actual break for fans / tv

I thought it was only ever talked about, tbh.
I don't see the point, unless it's just to rest players - the weather rarely warrants it in this country. There are enough interruptions to the season as it is imo.

the point of a winter break is that some nations take latter stages of international and europe seriously and also give the fans a break fomr the worst of the winter period for travel.

there'll be players across europe with the feet up on a sun lounger somewhere getting rested and then coming back for a good training week before the last 16 of CL and run ins start.

there's players in england who are ran out and over played.

In general its good, this specific year then sure some clubs like spurs and bruenly will have to pack in games all over the rest of calendar now and i say **** them..

    So do we "go again"

    Alisson
    Trent
Matip? Looked a bit rough to me.
    Vvd
    Robertson
    Fabinho
    Henderson
    Jones
    Gordon??? Ox??
    Firmino
    Jota

I dont see any case for changing midfield and the question is simply what was up with matip in that back line.

Gomez is completely out in the cold by the look of it too.

Gordon won’t play. Game passes him by a bit and away at Palace is a tough game atmosphere wise. I’d think Ox will come in and play wide right like he did v Brentford where he scored.

Matip had one of his worse games I’ve seen in a long long time. On the ball was horrendous. Wouldn’t surprise me if Konate started.

This. If Ox is fit again he plays. Konate might trplace Matip. Gomez clearly fourth choice now.
