Swansea City v Preston North End

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Swansea.com Stadium
    Date - 22 January 2022
    Kick off - 3.00pm

Following their fully deserved 1-1 draw away at Play-Off place aspirants Huddersfield, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a home match against Preston.

Last Saturday, Flynn Downes' late goal cancelled out Daniel Sinani's early opener as the Swans fought back to claim a point at Huddersfield.

The Terriers were on course for a fourth victory in five league games after Sinani swept home on the rebound.

But the Swans surged back into the contest after the break and levelled as Downes steered in his first goal for the club.

Huddersfield drop a place to seventh in the table, while Swansea remain 17th.

On Tuesday evening, Emil Riis' 89th-minute goal saw Preston North End come from 2-0 down with 10 men to draw with Sheffield United.

Jayden Bogle gave the Blades an early lead with a low shot through a crowded penalty area after John Egan's header from a corner had been beaten away by Daniel Iversen.

The Blades doubled the lead through a Billy Sharp penalty after Andrew Hughes was controversially sent off for a foul on Rhian Brewster.

Alan Browne pulled a goal back from close range before Riis popped up at the far post to slot in Ched Evans' cross.

Despite dropping two points, Sheffield United move up to 11th and into the top half of the table on 33 points, ahead of 13th-placed Preston on goal difference.

The Swans have played Preston on 66 previous occasions, winning 26, losing 22 and drawing 18.

In the corresponding fixture last season, Preston ran out 1-0 winners, ‘courtesy’ of a Matt Grimes own goal in added time:

Turning to Saturday, the Swans - probably without Jamie Paterson - really need to back up last Saturday’s improved performance by securing a much needed win (the last win was at Barnsley on 24 November).

I think they will and that the Swans will run out 2-1 winners <cheers>

Thanks Taff. I hope we can build on the 2nd half display at Huddersfield. I think we will keep a clean sheet at last. So it's a 2-0 win for me.

Blimey, we don't lose a game and everyone's optimistic again! :emoticon-0110-tongu

We must win a game soon by the law of averages, so I'm also going for a home win. We did look tidy second half at Hudds, we just need to start showing some consistency. 1 - 0.

Swansea City has completed the signing of Hannes Wolf on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach, subject to international clearance.

The 22-year-old midfielder links up with the Swans for the remainder of the 2021-22 Championship campaign, and will wear the number 13 shirt.

The Austrian is available to potentially make his debut in this weekend’s home fixture against Preston, as supporters return to the Swansea.com Stadium.

Thanks Taff. Having been lucky to see us get a point live at Huddersfield I am now feeling optimistic about us getting a good win against PNE on Saturday even without Patterson or and Wolfe.....

Patterson is on the naughty step for being a money grabbing bastard.
