Tottenham manager Antonio Conte, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I think we showed today that we don't want to give up. Never. The players know very well what our philosophy must be. We must fight to the end and try to also get a result. Today to lose this game was not right. We created many many chances. We were unlucky when we conceded. At the end we were very good. And we believed to the end. We wanted three points and we deserved them.

"I don't know if the game against Chelsea we can recover injured players but I think in this moment our team is very important to have all the players available. We can try to fight then and be competitive.

"The response of the team was good from the start. I have found a group that have shown me from the first day a desire to work with me and the staff and to improve every day. We know we have a long path in front of us but for me it is important to know they want to improve. Step by step we need to raise out level and improve quality. Today we played a good game and if I have to see one situation we need to improve, there are key moments. Sometimes we do not understand this, that you need to control the game. A great team does this.

"For me it is difficult to tell you something about our target. I think we have a long path and now we have to work. We know every well we have to fight to try to reach our best result. It will be very difficult because of the level of this tournament."

Crazy on the touch line but always composed and clear thinking after the game. His class is clear to see and always considers his responses carefully.

    In summary :

    1. Shades of Swansea 2017 there

    2. The Lesta far goal post must be sick and tired of
seeing Spurs in time added on

    3. How much more will Ajax now pay for Bergwijn

I like him more and more. No hyperbole. No getting carried away. No unrealistic targets. Just - Work. Fight. Suffer. Desire. Believe. Improve.

Oh yeah, and he'll put up with no rubbish from anyone.

Is kinda crazy how history more or less repeated itself tonight.

    Last season:

Losing to Leicester at the KP, bring on a player (Bale) in the second half, they score two goals and we win the game with Doherty having had his best game for us all season.

    This season:

Losing to Leicester at the KP, bring on a player (Bergwijn) in the second half, they score two goals and we win the game with Doherty having had his best game for us so far this season.

He’s what you pay the big bucks for. Now just to give him the tools to further do his work.

Being brutally honest, I think overall he’s done a good job at Leicester…he was the 1st manager in their history to win them an FA Cup & Community Shield (which is basically a Supercup equivalent), he got them two consecutive top-5 finishes - challenging for the top-4 in the process - and you could easily argue that, had large injuries not decimated his squad at the business end of each campaign, he potentially could have secured them CL football. Which you wouldn’t have expected Leicester to do beforehand.

However, he also comes across as super arrogant (he once claimed the biggest inspiration in life is himself <laugh>), doesn’t always react to differing game states during matches, can’t seem to organise a defence and doesn’t always utilise his squad well enough, especially when he needs to calm the game down. His reputation for being a bottler is evident.

I know he had injuries/absences today too, but the manner in which you won the game has happened far too often during his time at Leicester for it to be a coincidence.

He never seems to learn his lesson and that’s a huge red flag.

It’s no secret that I’m not Arteta’s biggest fan, but I don’t think Rodgers would be an upgrade. I’d be just as frustrated but for slightly different reasons.

Yeah he’s done well at Lesta but the media types act like he’s a dead cert for a ‘big’ job sooner or later and I still feel like he’s not at that level. Realistically would Man City look at Rodgers if Pep or is he in consideration for the Utd job in the summer?

Rodgers is a prick but I do think he’s a good manager. Not a great one but definitely a good one.

He’s done really well at Leicester overall, they’re faltering this season but they’ve been struck down with a hell of a lot of injuries. Though strong league finishes plus an FA Cup is enviable even to us in recent years.

When he’s got a fully fit side they’re a good team to watch but as Brunel highlighted, he’s not great at game management, albeit Tielemans’ brainfart pass today is something you can’t coach or “uncoach”, it was a poor bit of play from a generally very smart player - one who’d be most welcome here and arguably should already have been so (thanks Poch!).

I’d also imagine he works well with his coaches and scouts because Leicester have done some really smart business over the last few years and he’s put together a good, young team that as individuals he helps develop. He’s also aided the careers of a number of Leicester academy products too.

I would’ve taken him over a number of managers we were linked with last summer (Fonseca, Gattuso, Rangnick, Sarri) along with the one we actually appointed back then, albeit he wouldn’t have been a preferential choice overall for me.

So yeah… prick… but good manager I’d say.

Can we use hypnotherapy on Doherty? Just convince him he's playing Leicester at the KP every game? <laugh>
