Agree with this mate. If stewart gets injured we are in trouble and not the sort I think Defoe could solve. I am pretty sure the club sure are going for another CF, and Defoe would be the cherry on the cake.

That, plus a physical midfielder would make for a ****ing immense transfer window

I reckon the midfielder is the position most likely to be sacrificed. Numbers wise we are fine there but I think the balance isn’t quite right.

Agreed. None of Evans, O9, Neil or Winchester are physically imposing but maybe LJ thinks he can get over that by having big lads at the back

I take the presser as managing expectations in case it doesn't happen. If the manager comes out and gets everyone even more excited and then it doesn't happen there'd be hell on.

My suspicion is Defoe wants to play in a club higher than L1, paying higher wages.. and probably some coaching as well?

Personally I would welcome him if he is still fit enough to play... although I would still bring in another striker as well.

If that were the case, why would he bother entering into talks with us?

The big problem with the midfield is that the person brought in to be the main holding midfielder has been missing for most of the campaign and as Blackburn fans warned us, struggles in a midfield 2. It's whether Speakman wants to admit this hasn't worked out by going out and getting a proper enforcer or just sitting and hoping for the best.

Defoe, that Stockton lad from Morecambe and a midfielder would be a great window imo.

No chance in signing Stockton: he’s going to be massively overvalued

My order of preference is CM, then backup for Rosco, and Defoe would be icing on the cake.

Upthere over the road saying Wright could be out for weeks ffs. What is it with us and injuries, there's no other team in this league close to the amount of injuries we've had.

That would be bad news. Him at RB has really made us better. Johnson said he had a contact injury today but didnt sound too bad. It might force the club to pursue a RB in the next week or so.
