…….we were undone by a single De Bruyne goal again. I still remember us playing Hull City in the opening game of the season with Mouriño back in charge. The last game I saw with De Bruyne in a Chelsea shirt and he blazed quite a few shots over the bar and Mouriño let him go a few weeks later.

Mourinho has since found his level, while De Bruyne has proven his.
City are a class above us, even when Audi has us playing at our best, which we did all game.
In this game we were 2nd best for 90 mins, Kante was all but invisible, so dominant were City. That we kept the score to 1-0 is a credit to our team spirit. We created little , and saw the big dumb log Lukaku waste every chance we did make for him. He's one of the worst buys we have made, a player who needs others to create chances for him which he can't make for himself. Alonso, good as he has been , is also a level below what is needed now.
Pulisic is absolutely useless, a weak, flimsy player, all show and no go.
Can't fault the effort we put in, but without James and Chilwell we are just not good enough to worry City.

Completely disagree - he's the worst IMO - given context.

Very true, with our best 11, fit and in form, we have their beating. Right now, and for some months, we have had neither available.
We're carrying more than a couple of "big name" players who just haven't made it at PL level, an off form Mount, and CHO who continues to show form only in flashes.
Much better to come as players return.

I’m just furious at the signing of Lukaku. I cannot be the only person who could see that it would be a catastrophe long before we signed him?
I also fail to believe that our system of play isn’t set up for a striker. That’s just absurd. He simply isn’t good enough.

He wasn’t before, abysmal at United too. Definitely a club purchase and not the managers.

A combined £220m Chelsea, Everton and United paid for him. Give it a few years and you'll be sectioned if you tell people that.

The problem with Lukaku is not only is he wildly overrated but he doesn't have the attributes to play as a ST or CF. He's more of a RF and that just isn't a style or system that produces winning football because you'd need to lose a midfielder and have another forward up top to supply him.

We need to do everything possible to offload him in the summer because nobody will buy a 30 year old Lukaku.

Something is weird with our buying of strikers.
We had Morata, then Werner and now Lukaku , none of them able to score. Morata before and since Chelsea, has proven to be a pretty handy striker, Werner ,before us, ditto. Lukaku always a bit underwhelming.
Costa, Drogba, Guidjohnson, Jimmy, Zola ( not an out and out striker) were all brilliant.
Common thread?? They could all create goals for themselves.
Lukaku can't score even when set up. Call him an Uber.
