Decent shout that. Not sure if said player had Covid but the older Delta variant left me with a very fast heart beat ( Tachycardia ) and I now take beta blocker meds for it. By comparison the new Omnicrom variant which I tested positive for on Sunday morning is pretty mild.
From what I was told via someone at training ground. It sounded very serious, He collapsed in Training, nobody around him. Grant and staff were very concerned, Ambulance was called straight away. Sounds very similar to Charlie Wyke and John Fleck. The young lad who got hit by the flare at Barnsley was there as a guest and they had to leave .
That's awful We were discussing him at the Stoke game (bemoaning the lack of full backs available) and knew he was long term but not why. Fingers crossed he recovers fully regardless on how long it takes.
I know this was suggested at the time - desperate for the young man and hope he can come back from it. BTW, in this context, whatever my reservations about GM as a coach, and the fact he can be prickly in interviews, i think the way he has handled this with the media reflects that he is a very decent human being. He never uses injuries as an excuse and never even mentions Josh as an injury, even though this happened at almost exactly same time Coyle got injured and effectively left him without a right back for several months. He is very good at protecting his young players and I get the sense they really respect him for that.
It is a little more in the public domain now so I will give a few more details. He suffered a stroke at the training ground due to a problem with his heart. The good news is that he is recovering from this set back however, during the prognosis they discovered another issue with his heart (non covid), which may be treatable but possibly career ending. He is well but I am told it will take some time to understand his long term status.
Someone a while ago, probably as a market ploy, said that in this country that the third Monday in January was the day when people feel saddest. No scientific evidence of course but it has passed into general usage and keeps getting brought up. Just read it on a paper's website otherwise I wouldn't have thought of it. Edited to say I posted this whilst you were posting the post above.
