For the fee we would want I would expect Liverpool to spend a bit more and go for Bellingham. I hope so too

    Crooks again:
Jose Sa: The Portuguese is at it again. Another stellar performance, this time against Southampton. The dive at the feet of Jan Bednarek was important, as was the save from Romain Perraud. However, it was the point-blank stop from Mohammed Salisu that turned the game in Wolves' favour. Sa's overall command of his penalty area is as good as I've seen from a Premier League goalkeeper. He came out 12 yards to punch a James Ward-Prowse cross and flattened everything in his path. What a contrast to his Saints counterpart Fraser Forster who found himself in no man's land at a crucial time in the game and it cost them dearly.
Not often I agree with much this man says but he definitely got this right.
Edit: Just read his Cody comments above. **** me he is a total bellend. Seriously, does he do this deliberately to wind people up?

Interesting that he wasn’t touted as the replacement for Hugo Lloris in the same piece though …

Have to agree with all of that, he was fantastic.

Makes JWPs free kick even more special.

Never knew JWP had that in his locker. From 20-25 yards out you would always fancy him. But what a strike he's getting better and better with age ! and he's only 27.

JWP is the most dedicated free kick taker of them all. Spent the entire past year aiming for top left just to set up this masterpiece to the right. Completely fooled the keeper :D

Here are all dozen of JWP PL free kick goals...interesting that the first wasn't scored until 2016 and the vast majority have been scored in the last 3 years, which suggest that he wasn't a regular taker earlier in his career.

    Stats
Average goals to direct free kicks 6%
Average for the best of the best eg Measi Ronaldo 12.9%
JWP seems to achieve that or just over
Can’t seem to find a ratio on Becks - stats weren’t as comprehensive in his day

Sky Ref Watch = Dermot says the two penalty decisions were correct, i.e. the Referee made a mistake by not giving the Wolves penalty, it's ok to kick Romeu by accident. The pundit all disagreed with him on both.

The Wolves one, look at some of the home fans behind the goal. As well as the "oh no" there are a few that applaud. To be fair I would if I was behind simply one of the best free kicks in the last few years.

In all honesty, the Wolves penalty shows two players missing the ball and coming together. There was as much forward movement from the Wolves player, possibly more, than Bednarek, yet Bedders gets penalised.
I have said this in the past, but sometimes players just make accidental contact with each other, but these days refs seem to think that any contact has to be considered a foul.
Another example is when a striker runs across the path of a defender, when chasing the ball and has his heels accidentally clipped. Many refs, in the past would indicate that it was an accident and wave play on, but that doesn’t happen anymore.

TBF it was a good thing he was down the pecking order early in his career. It gave him plenty of time to practice on the training ground. :)

Yeah, that was my reading of it too, though in fairness, I'd be gutted if it hadn't been given to us.
