Next week's game will tell us if this is a myth or if he’s capable of changing things and pulling something out of the bag. Why he’s so reluctant to drop Gooch I’ll never know, but this needs to be his first change.
Work rate and never hides. He works his socks off and gives 100% without fail. Another side of that… With our current squad situation, who is capable (loose term!!) of playing so many positions?
Yep, give him his due for 100% effort, unfortunately he can play in numerous positions and be equally **** in all of them. Should be nowhere near our fully fit squad
I agree mate. Although he can be very good too. Just extremely fleetingly. Seems to have gone so far backwards from where he looked like he’d be.
Gooch can be frustrating, but he's been creating chances in all the matches recently, some of which we've scored from. He's got more assists than most in the squad too.
Second to Dan Neil. 5 assists in 20 starts. Not bad for a lad who has played all over the park. He gets some grief, and he isnt the best technically by any means, but bearing in mind the lack of squad depth and our injuries he is 100% needed right now.
It doesn't seem to matter which players are available or not. The switch seems to go from fully on to fully off without anyone touching it.
His biggest problem in my eyes and should be an easy fix(says the retired Sunday morning and over 40s player) is when he’s beat his man cross the little white bastard, don’t switch back for another go at beating them or trying to beat the extra man, whip the hower in. Towld ya it would be easy.
To some of our fans a losing streak is losing one game They conveniently forget that we had previously gone about 10 games unbeaten
Absolutely. I've been critical of Gooch in recent weeks but the kid has played right back, left back, left wing back, right wing, left wing and no.10 in recent weeks yet we still expect 10/10 performances from him. The lad loves the club and gives his all every game. That's good enough for me
He is versatile no doubt, but the counter argument is that he has played poorly in many a game in all of those positions, often to the detriment of the team and results, yet he is rarely subbed in favour of the obvious candidates who could be often be named as soon as the team is announced. Jack Diamond according to many was our best player on the day he made his only start this season, yet he was still subbed, for the good of the team ? short or long term I think not.
yup, he worries defenders at times and he creates some excellent chances, i dare say he has even improved slightly but he still tries to take that extra touch too many times, unfortunately (for him and us) he does tend to show for the ball a lot more than most so his bad choices seem to be more highlighted.
He is not a full-back, never will be. Much better more forward. Relatively long serving player for us with an eye for goal. I'd persevere with him but luke I say not at full back. As for the 'Streaky johnson' comment from the op, ****e craic.
Exactly this...if he stops waving his f*****arms about and griping to the refs he may just get a few decision his way.. Just beat the man and cross the ball son.
