we sold roofe because he wanted to leave. He wanted to leave because he felt he deserved the same money as Bamford (which at the time was a not unreasonable request) You can assume the club didn’t value him that highly OR that we were skint and roofe was one of several players who had had contract talks pulled on them the previous autumn whilst the club searched for a vessel to urinate in
he played 33 league games to bamford’s 22 the year they were both here. His previous two years he played 42 and 36. Not sure that screams injury prone. Whether it was a good deal or not? I guess that depends whether you rate him or not, but he left because he wanted to and the reason he wanted to was because he felt under valued and dicked around
Fair enough. Maybe my minds playing tricks on me but he always seemed to pick up niggly muscle injuries and never seemed to get a run of games out of him. Bamford had a knee op that year I think. Come to think of it Bamford has had more than his fair share of injuries too. Wonder if Spurs still want him when Kane leaves?
Yeh, I seem to remember a niggling calf injury recurring that year. roofe did well for us when played in his preferred position and after bulking up a bit… I’m not sure he would have thrived in the Prem though. mind… I said the same about paddy.
I'm sceptical about Bamford recreating last seasons form. I have been a huge critic of his. He shut me up last season and I applaud his performances in the PL. I still don't think he is some kind of saviour for our season. He misses too many chances. We really do lack a natural finisher in the squad.
Lawro has tipped us for a 2-0 win, and tht **** always gets it wrong with us, so it looks like I should congratulate you on a game well played, a good away win for you.
me too but it’s not a popular opinion and looks like sour grapes! Seriously, I’m really pleased for him and us with how last year went, he did great and shut plenty of us up. It’s great when players stick two fingers up at naysayers… but he’s not a natural finisher in my view so although his work rate is admirable, build up play generally good, historically he’s just not been reliable enough in front of goal to be a top class PL striker. Meant as an observation not a criticism and I’d certainly like him back, fit and in the team.
Strong looking starting eleven that. Twitter morons moaning about James up front showing that the majority comment without actually knowing much about football or the club.
I think people on Twitter moaning about James up front underestimate James pressing ability and the rotation him Raphinha and Harrison can also have. Rodrigo on for the last 20-30 mins against tired legs will be good. Number 9s don’t really exist as much in the old school format, Man City won the title last season without one and we play a very similar style to City so I get it.
If we lose today we can't really blame injuries etc as that's a decent starting eleven. Assuming of course that Forshaw doesn't get crocked again now he's signed his new contract
